It is with a sorrowful heart I take up my pen to inform you of the death of our dear sweet brother Dan, he is no longer among us, he has gone to enjoy the company of our dear Parents. I could not tell an thing more painful, for you well know he was the loved one of the household. He died yesterday afternoon at five minutes of four O'clock., he seemed to sink away so calm and peacefuly. The day before he died he asked where Julia and Hannah was and said he would like to see them. A short time before he died he called us in the room and asked them all if they would give Nelia a home, he was delirius nearly all the time for the last four days and slept nearly all the time. It was hard to see one so good suffer so much, but now his suffering now are over and he is at rest forever. John was here when he died and I never saw him so much affected before, he said he had known him for the 40 years and had always loved him dearly. I do not know what to write to comfort you or I would gladly do it, we can all sympathize with each other, we feel our loss deeply. He went to pay you a farewell visit and then back to Julia's and out here to see John and Henry and then home to see our Father and Mother. We ought not to complain, Jane is almost heart broken. She says she will stay with us now, she does not feel like going back to her friends. Dan will be buried tomorrow morning at ten O'clock beside Frank Crum. Oh how I wish you could be here. Bill House thought Dan might linger along for sometime and he couldn't wait longer so he started yesterday morning. Alfred was away too at Lawrence, he has not returned yet. We are expecting him home today. I do not know what will become of us now for we depended on Dan so much. I expect Griff will stay here and go in partnership with Henry for awhile. Han has about recovered her health again, the ballance of us are tolerable well. I can not write more now. Hoping to hear from you soon, all join in love to you all. I remain as ever your true sister, Nealy Moler.
