I suppose you have received the heart rending news contained in my last e'er this. Oh how I have felt for you and wish I could say something to comfort you but no, we all mourn the same and we can only sympathize with each other in our deep sorrow. It seems to me we are fast approaching our home, every time the lovliest is taken and we are left to mourn their loss it would be useless for me to begin to tell you of his goodness for you know as well as I can tell. I have not a doubt but that he is enjoying that heaven which he lived for, tonight and is enjoying the company of those loved ones who have gone on before. Do you not think they remember you & me while they are so happy together. Oh Hannah, if you could only have seen those lovely eyes of his turned upward as if beholding some loved object it would have been a pleasant recolection for you through life, let us still continue to hope that we may be as well prepared to die as he was. Mary, Jane & myself went out to Sarah Anns today to see how she was getting along, she has been quite sick, but is better now, but is still confined to her bed. susie has also been very sick, her disease is just like Dans but we do sincerely hope it may not terminate in anything serious. We are quite fearful of the result, as for the rest of us we are tolerable well now. I commenced this yesterday evening and had not time to finish so here goes again. Susie seems better this morning. Jane & George are well and have been all this time. John has been appointed Guardian for Geo. and Griff is administrator of Dans estate. Jane does not want to go to her friends, she knows she can live better with us than them. I am rather surprised at her for I think if I had Parents I would prefer living with them. We live together in one house. Jane and Han have two rooms and a kitchen a piece. While I write I am sitting up stairs at the front window just opposite the store. John is over today, he is very attentive when any of us are sick, he is as kind hearted as he can be. Griff has decided to stay here a year and longer if he likes it. He has gone in partnership with Henry in the store and they have quite a nice stock of good in the store now. Sam Crum will likely go in with them when he returns from St. Louis, he went that far with Mrs. Crum on her way home and is expected home tonight in the stage. I can not imagine what Julia means by her long silence, It seems almost impossible to get a word out of her. I have written her six letters and have only had one from her. I suppose she feels quite big since Bill has got home and I do not wonder for she must have been lonely while he was away. Mary & Henry was at Leavenworth last week and had Lauras photo taken and gave me one to send you in my letter. Jane also sends you some of Dans hair. We thought your pieces very pretty and especialy the thin piece. Henry and John each gave me a lawn dress, a black with a white spot in it. Sarah Ann says she does not owe you a letter. Henry also says you owe him a letter. Tell Mr. Anderson not to get discouraged for we will surely look for him out here this summer and will be pleased to see him. I have nothing of interest to write you so I will stop for this time. Remember me to Mary Poulton and others and write soon. Han, Griff & all join in love to you all. Yours Nelia.
