Cremation is planned and private inurnment services will be held at a later date at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Joanne Carlson was born February 14, 1924, at Omaha, NE, the daughter of Roy and Alice (Parsons) Tedrow. She grew up in San Francisco, CA, and also lived in Pleasant Hill, CA, until moving to Ottawa in 1976. She attended and graduated from schools in San Francisco. While living in California, she was a medical assistant for more than 20 years. From 1977 to 2001, Joanne owned and operated The Sunflower Seed Health Food Store in Ottawa. In 1942, Joanne was united in marriage to Richard Kilbourn in California. They later divorced. Joanne later married Russell Carlson in California. He preceded her in death in 1978. Mrs. Carlson was also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alice Tedrow; and two sisters. Joanne is survived by her son, Peter Kilbourn of Walnut Creek, CA; her daughters, Kathy Overton of Bend, OR, Nancy Horbeck of Osawatomie, and Lynn Ferguson and Lisa Evans, both of Ottawa; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to Richmond Healthcare Center of Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter. Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, is in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 2: "Susie J. Beachy 1917-2006 Funeral services for Susie J. Beachy, 88, rural Garnett, were Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at the Raymond Yoder residence with Alvin Wayne Yoder, Vernon E. Yoder, and Larry Keim officiating. Interment was in the Amish Cemetery, rural Garnett. Miss Beachy died Saturday, February 18, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care Facility. Susie J. Beachy was born September 11, 1917, at Garnett, to the late Jonas S. and Lizzie (Overholt) Beachy. She was a member of the Amish Church of rural Garnett. Miss Beachy was also preceded in death by her brothers, Simon Beachy and Alvin Beachy; her sister, Minnie Yoder; and her brother-in-law, Amos Miller. Susie is survived by her brothers, Mahlon Beachy of Garnett and Lloyd Beachy and his wife Lydia of Carlton, OR; her sisters, Barbara Yoder and her husband Toby of Garnett, Anna Beachy of Phoenix, AZ, Bertha Miller of Thomas, OK, and Esther Yoder and her husband Ervin of Garnett; her brother-in-law, Tobias B. Yoder and Katie Yoder of Kalona, IA; and her sisters-in-law, Ione Beachy and Dora Beachy, both of Iola. Casketbearers were Susie's nephews, David T. Yoder, Raymond E. Yoder, John Yoder, Ralph Beachy, Elmer Beachy, and David Miller. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." "Leonard W. Parker, Jr. 1920-2006 Funeral services for Leonard W. Parker, Jr., 85, were Thursday, February 23, 2006, at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO. Interment was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Mr. Parker died Saturday, February 18. Leonard W. Parker, Jr. was born July 5, 1920, at Sparks, KS. He served in the United States Army in World War II and later retired from Bartlett Grain Company. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Larison Parker and infant daughter, Frances; his brothers, Eldon and Delmar Parker; and his sisters, Hazel Glenn and Viola Hayes. Leonard is survived by his son, James Parker; his daughter, Constance Alexander; his wife of second marriage, Freedia Fisher; his sister, Ruby Davis; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
