March 15, 2006 The ADVOCATE Serving Anderson, Southern Franklin and Western Linn Counties Volume 10, No. 19 Transcribed with permission of Vern Brown Page 5, Column 5: "Jeanne Heuberger 1918-2006 Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanne Heuberger, 87, Westphalia, was Monday, March 13, 2006, at St. Teresa Catholic Church with Father Michael Hawken officiating. Interment was in St. Teresa Cemetery. Mrs. Heuberger died Thursday, March 9, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Jeanne Heuberger was born October 30, 1918, at Maude, OK, the daughter of Percy L. and Madgalene 'Lena' (Holsher) Galloway. She attended school in Pittsburg and graduated from high school there. She moved to Garnett in 1946, where she worked as a telephone operator and in the restaurant for John Marmon. Jeanne later worked in the restaurant in Westphalia for Marge Hunt. Following that she worked at the Westphalia State Bank for more than 25 years, retiring in 1987. She was also the City of Westphalia Clerk from 1964 to 1969 and from 1987 to 2005. Jeanne was a member of St. Teresa Church and Altar Society. She was also active in the Westphalia Days planning and activities. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Pieces and Patches Quilt Club, both of Garnett. Jeanne and Mark Heuberger were married September 3, 1962, at Westphalia. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2001. Mrs. Heuberger was also preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Lena Galloway; and her brother, Bill Galloway. Jeanne is survived by her son, Ron Hobbs and his wife Debby, of Westphalia; her brother, Bob Galloway of Grants, NM; her sisters, Shirley Cash and Marjorie Robb, both of Shawnee; her grandson, Chris Hobbs of Westphalia; two nieces, Debbie Bran and her husband Juan and City Caillowette and her husband Al; and three nephews, Cary Cash and his wife Kim, Bill Cash and his wife Christy, and Bill Galloway. Music was provided by Mary Milner, organist, and Mary Drum, vocalist. Musical selections included 'Be Not Afraid', 'On Eagles Wings', 'You Are Mine' and 'How Great Thou Art'. Casketbearers were Chris Hobbs, Merlin Carpenter, Tom Highberger, Clarence Schillig, Kenneth Renyer, and Jim Nolan. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Teresa Church or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." "Betty Margaret Smith 1928-2006 Funeral services for Betty Margaret Smith, 78, Garnett, were Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Father Brian Klingele officiating.
