Mrs. Davis has been cremated and private inurnment services will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO. Mary Frances Davis was born October 2, 1920, at Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Orland Watson and Ada Catherine (Vaughn) Luck. She graduated from Hannibal (Missouri) High School with the Class of 1938. She attended college in Iowa City, IA, for one year. For 15 years, she was an administrative assistant for Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance Company in Colorado Springs, and Denver, CO. She had lived in Ottawa since 1970, moving there from Colorado Springs. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church. Mary and Merle A. Davis were united in marriage in Colorado Springs. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by her parents, Orland and Ada Luck; and her brothers, Dr. James Vernon Luck and Kenneth Watson Luck. Mary is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Anderson of Ottawa; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Page 5, Column 2: "Jean 'Granny' Thompson 1920-2006 Funeral services for Jean 'Granny' Thompson, 85, Kincaid, were Monday, January 9, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Murl McKibben officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery in Mildred. Mrs. Thompson died Wednesday, January 4, at Allen County Hospital in Iola. Jean 'Granny' Thompson was born March 27, 1920, at Kincaid, the daughter of Edward Columbus and Atena Rebecca (Babcock) Hastings. She worked at Warner Manufacturing in Garnett and H.D. Lee in Ottawa as a sewing machine operator. She later worked for McLeod's Nursing Home and Parkview Nursing Home in Garnett, where she was in charge of housekeeping and laundry. After retiring, Jean worked as a paraprofessional at the Kincaid school where she earned her name 'Granny Jean'. She was a member of the Kincaid Baptist Church and the Kincaid VFW Auxiliary. Jean loved to go fishing, and loved her dogs. Jean and Wayne Thompson were married March 27, 1938, at Olathe. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1995. Mrs. Thompson was also preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Atena Hastings; her brothers, Alfred Hastings, Roy Hastings, Frank Hastings, and Bryan Hastings; her sisters, Mildred Hastings, Opal Geyer, Flossie Hesseltine, and Carrie Goff; and two great-grandchildren. Jean is survived by her sons, Forrest Thompson and Twyla Keterman of Douglass, Wayman Thompson and his wife, Grace, of Kincaid, and Bryan Thompson and his wife, Nina, of Pomona; her daughters, Carol Hunsperger of Kincaid and Edith Correa of Cabor, AR; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Musical selections included 'What A Friend We Have In Jesus', 'Leaning On The Everlasting Arms' provided by Michael Miller, and 'Highway To Heaven'. Casketbearers were Forrest Cass, Jerry Mace, Frank Stewart, Dave Whitcomb, Bob Ward, and Gary West. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Kincaid First Responders. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." "Mary Rockers Funeral services for Mary Rockers, 71, Greeley, are pending and will be announced later by Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel. Page 5, Column 3: "Ralph Stever 1914-2006 Funeral services for Ralph Stever, 91, Colony, were Saturday, January 7, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Colony with Rev. Tom Bevard officiating. Interment was in Colony Cemetery. Mr. Stever died Monday, January 2, at his home. Ralph Stever was born June 29, 1914, near Conway, MO, the son of Edward Wright and Josie Elmarine (Gower) Stever. Ralph and Ada Louise Johnson were married March 20, 1937, at Conway, MO. In 1940, they moved to the Glenwood community in eastern Coffey County where they farmed until 1947. They purchased and operated the Reppert store in Harris until 1952 when they moved to Colony where Ralph was a rural mail carrier until retiring in 1980. Following retirement Ralph continued to farm and care for their rental property. During his life, he and Ada attended area churches where he served as a part time lay minister, taught Sunday School for many years, and helped with many church activities. In recent years he attended the Assembly of God Church in LeRoy. He was also a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association and was a past member of the Colony Lions Club. Mr. Stever was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Josie Stever; one infant son; eight brothers and one sister. Ralph is survived by his wife, Ada, of the home; his sons, Lloyd Stever and his wife, Lovara, Kingsville, MO, and George Stever and his wife, Tammy, of Colony; his daughters, Louise Houck and her husband, Gary, of Spring, TX, and Cindy Tinsley and her husband, David, of Colony; his brother, Frank Stever of Odessa, MO; his sister, Ressie Day of Oakdale, CA; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Kloma Buckle, pianist, and Eldon Wright, vocalist. Musical selections included 'Peace In The Valley' and 'Old Rugged Cross'. Casketbearers were Mark Stever, Bob Stever, Scott Stever, Jerry Chappell, Bryant Kunard, and Jacob Tinsley. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements."
