Interment was in Parker Cemetery. Mr. Lee died Tuesday, March 28. Larry Everett Lee was born July 6, 1940, northwest of Parker, the youngest of three children born to Charles Everett and Ila Loree (Davey) Lee. He graduated from rural Parker High School with the Class of 1958. He was united in marriage to Charlene Kittrell on December 22, 1962, at Ottawa. They made their home on Larry's home place. Larry bought the family farm so he had lived there all his life. Larry and Charlene became the parents of one daughter. Larry started in metal trades and attended journeyman welding school for five years in Lawrence. He turned out as a journeyman pipefitter working for Pipefitters Local Union 763 for 35 « years, retiring in June of 2002. Larry was a people-oriented person. He loved people, loved visiting. He was known as a social butterfly. He enjoyed going to auctions and loved genealogy. He had published a genealogy book on the Davey family, which was his mother's side, in 1980. Larry farmed some of the land and raised cattle until the last several years when he narrowed it down to just baling hay. His current cattle herd consisted mostly of Angus and some Crossbred. Besides his cattle, he was very fond of cats. Larry was very involved in the community. Although his address was Lane, he considered himself a member of the Parker Community. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Garnett where he served as deacon. And through the years, he was treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and deacon at other churches. Larry had served on the Rural Water District #3 board twice. He served three years on the Parker Alumni Association Board. He headed up Parker Day at least one year and helped in other years. With his interest in genealogy, he became a member of the Linn County Historical Society and the Parker Community Historical Society for several years. Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ila Lee; his brother, Charles 'Bud' Lee, who died in 1979; and his sister, Wilma JoAnne Lee, who died March 10, 2006. Larry is survived by his wife, Charlene, of the home; his daughter, Brita Baker and her husband, Tracy, of Gardner; his step-granddaughter, Melany Baker; his step-mother, Eva Wells of Boonville, AR; his step-brothers, Wade Schultz of Boonville, AR and L.A. Schultz of Gallup, NM; and other relatives and friends. Casketbearers were Mike Kilet, Jerry Morgan, Henry Ackmann, Dewain Crouch, Dave Staley, and John Wolken. The family suggests memorials be made to the Assembly of God Church in Garnett. Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie, was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 2: "Keith Zook 1937-2006 Keith Zook, 68, of Corpus Christi, TX, formerly of Garnett, died Friday, March 17, 2006. Memorial services were Monday, March 20, at First United Methodist Church in Odem, TX. Keith Zook was born in 1937 in Newton, KS, the son of Frank and Naomi Zook. He graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1951 and from Emporia State Teachers College in 1958. He and Jan (Janet Rogers, also formerly of Garnett) moved to Corpus Christi with all their belongings and made their home there for 49 years. Keith touched so many lives in his unique and special way. His love for God and for God's creation moved him to reach out to all people, even strangers. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Odem and Calvary Fellowship Church Robstown. He was active in the Emmaus community, sponsored many friends and relatives, and was a certified Lay Speaker. Keith participated in all church activities and functions with a passion to share his faith. He was instrumental in church development by serving as a member of the church building committee at FUMC. He was self-employed in the crop insurance business for over 25 years and retired in late 1999. He was also a licensed real estate agent. Throughout the years, Keith was an active member of the Jaycees, the Kiwanis Club, a Mason in the Robstown Lodge No. 1062, AF&AM., and a Shriner. He enjoyed gardening, refinishing antique furniture, goose hunting, and fishing. He and Jan would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September 2006. Mr. Zook was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Naomi Zook. Keith is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jan Zook of Corpus Christi, TX; his son, Doug Zook of Idabel, OK; his daughter, Lori Darby and her husband, Dusty of Kingwood, TX; his grandchildren, James Darby and Korie Darby; his sisters, Joan Godall and husband Gene of New Braunfels, TX, Doris Hutton and husband Ken of New Braunfels, TX, and Elma Hampton of Garnett; and many nieces and nephews." Page 5, Column 3: "Joseph C. Gellhaus 1920-2006 Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph C. Gellhaus, 85, Greeley, was Monday, April 3, 2006, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Brian Klingele officiating. Interment was in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Gellhaus died Thursday, March 30, at Olathe Medical Center. Joseph C. Gellhaus was born July 10, 1920, on the homestead in Greeley where he lived his entire life, the son of Frank and Josephine (Boeckman)Gellhaus. He served in the United States Army from August 1942 to November 1945. While in the Army, he served in the Pacific theater during World War II. After returning to Greeley, Joe helped on the building of the St. John's Church. Joe and Irene Setter were married on June 25, 1946. Their marriage was the first to take place in the new church. This union was blessed with three sons. Joe farmed and also had a dairy for several years. He enjoyed mowing, fishing, wood and metal working, and generally working with his hands. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and was a former church council member. Mr. Gellhaus was preceded in death by his son, Fred Gellhaus in 1987; his great- grandson, Seth Gellhaus in 2003; his parents Frank and Josephine Gellhaus; his sisters, Sister Josephine Gellhaus, Rose Lickteig, and Cecelia Rues; and three brothers, Ted Gellhaus, Leo Gellhaus, and Bernard Gellhaus. Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene; his sons and their spouses, Mike and Marilyn Gellhaus of Princeton and John and Wyonna Gellhaus of Garnett; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five step-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Music was provided by Sister Rita Lavigne, organist, and the Ursuline Sisters of Paola who sang 'On Eagle's Wings', 'How Great Thou Art', 'Prayer of St. Francis', and 'Only A Shadow'. Casketbearers were Sean Gellhaus, Wes Gellhaus, A.J. Gellhaus, Lewis Orrick, Duane Kipper, and Ben Gellhaus. The family suggests memorials be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Greeley. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." "Larry Dean Collins 1947-2006 Graveside services and interment for Larry Dean Collins, 58, Mounds, OK, are Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Welda Cemetery with Pastor Donald P. Homeday officiating. Mr. Collins died Friday, March 31, at Mounds, OK. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel prior to the service."
