Womelsdorf 1909-2006 Funeral services for Leah E. Womelsdorf, 96, are Friday, April 14, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Colony with Pastor Steve Bubna officiating. Interment is in Welda Cemetery. Mrs. Womelsdorf died Saturday night, April 8, at Chanute Health Care Center, Chanute, KS. Leah E. Womelsdorf was born May 20, 1909, at Council Grove, the daughter of James and Mary (Raider) Allen. She and Henry Webster Womelsdorf were married March 1, 1928, at Cottonwood Falls. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1987. Leah and Henry owned and operated a store and filling station in Xenia and Mildred. She enjoyed life to the fullest, spending it with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She had many friends and she enjoyed playing pitch, fishing, and gardening. Mrs. Womelsdorf was also preceded in death by her sons, Henry Womelsdorf (an infant) and Daniel Womelsdorf on July 23, 1995; her grandson, Leland Hicks in 1989; and her parents, James and Mary Allen. Leah is survived by her son, Charles Dean Womelsdorf of Chanute; her daughters, Dixie Ramsey of Colony and Patricia Kay Womelsdorf of Pineville, MO; 20 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to Colony Community Church Benevolent Funds. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 3: "Dorsey Berdean Bromell 1916-2006 Graveside funeral services and interment for Dorsey Berdean Bromell, 90, Paola, formerly of Osawatomie, were Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Osawatomie Cemetery. Mrs. Bromell died Sunday, April 9, at the Miami County Medical Center, Paola. Berdean Bromell was born March 26, 1916, at Paola to George and Ollie Rebecca (Hough) Emery. She was the oldest of four children. She attended school in Paola and Osawatomie. She worked at the Sunflower Powder Plant during World War II. She worked at Meeks Drug Store in Osawatomie in the later 1940's and 1950's. Berdean and Leroy Robert Bromell were married on April 16, 1949, at Olpe. They made their home near Osawatomie for 34 years and had lived on a farm south of Osawatomie for 34 years where she helped with the farming. He husband died June 24, 1996. In August of 1996 she bought a home in Paola and lived there approximately one year before failing health caused her to enter Country Club Estates where she lived for six and one half years. She then moved to Vintage Park in Osawatomie and lived there a year and a half before moving to North Point Skilled Nursing Center at Paola for the last three months. Mrs. Bromell was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Ollie Emery; and her brother, Don Emery. Berdean is survived by her brother, Doug Emery and his wife, Alice, of Paola; her sister, Betty Spencer of Greeley; and four nephews.
