Mr. Schade died Monday, April 17, at his home in Lane. Ernest Schade was born April 6, 1924, at Independence, MO, the son of Alex and Jesse (Masterson) Schade. He attended high school at Lawrence before leaving for World War II to serve in the United States Army. Ernest and Hazel Beck were married August 8, 1947, at North Kansas City, MO. This union was blessed with eight children. She survives of their home. Mr. Schade was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Jesse Schade; his son, Steven Schade; two brothers, Wilford and Jack; and his sisters, Henrietta and Edna Mae. Ernest is also survived by his sons, Timothy Schade and his wife Barbara of Cassville, MO, George Schade of Polk, MO, and Jason Schade and his wife Stephanie of Parker; his daughters, Susan Brewer and her husband Dan of Adrian, MO, Nancy Malone of Hillsdale, Barbara Coddington and her husband Jim of Parker, and Patricia Gibbs and her husband Dennis of Paola; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." "Lorraine Anderson 1928-2006 Graveside services and interment for Lorraine Anderson, 77, Ottawa, were Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Ottawa. Mrs. Anderson died Sunday, April 16, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Lorraine Anderson was born September 17, 1928, at Ottawa, the daughter of James Henry and Dessie T. (Jones) Baker. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident and attended Ottawa schools through the eighth grade. Lorraine did housecleaning and in earlier years, worked for Mode O'Day and H.D. Lee, both in Ottawa. Lorraine and Willard E. Anderson were married September 26, 1949, at Garnett. He survives. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dessie Baker; and her brothers, James O. Baker, Lewis J. Baker, Nilo Baker, and George Baker. Lorraine is also survived by her son, Jay Anderson of Wellsville; her grandson, Jay B. Anderson, Jr. of Wellsville; her brother, Ross E. Baker of Vassar; and her sisters, Wynona Tilcock and Bonnie Meyer, both of Topeka. Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 2: "Lester F. 'Pete' Holderman 1918-2006 Funeral services for Lester F. 'Pete' Holderman, 88, Garnett, were Friday, April 21, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Centerville Cemetery, Centerville, KS. Mr. Holderman died Monday, April 17, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Lester F. 'Pete' Holderman was born in rural Linn County, KS, on April 15, 1918, to Earl and Winnie Holderman. He was one of four children. As a child he attended Eureka school in Linn County. On December 14, 1938, Pete married Doris L. Jackson in Garnett. They started their life together in Linn County. Two children were born to this union, Richard Wayne and Sharon Lee. Doris preceded him in death on August 12, 2002. Lester's working career began in farming during the 1930's and 1940's. In 1950 he became a plumber. Then in the 60's he bought his first restaurant which he and Doris ran until his retirement. He attended the First Christian Church in Garnett. Some of his greatest joy came from the time he spent with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, cooking, part-time farming and going to auctions. Pete is survived by his son, Richard Holderman and his wife Lucille of Centerville; his daughter, Sharon Sumner and her husband Butch, of Garnett; two grandsons, Richie Holderman of Iola and Jason Sumner and his wife Mary, of Garnett; two granddaughters Jodi Hickman and her husband Matt of Stilwell and Lynn Bandyk and her husband Alan of Paola; his eight great-grandchildren Chris, Lauren, Lyndsey, Haley, Austin, Jenna, Avery, and Morgan; as well as many nieces and nephews. His family and a host of friends will sadly miss Lester. Music was provided by Lauren and Lyndsey Bandyk, pianists. Musical selections included 'Amazing Grace', 'Prayer of St. Francis', 'On Eagle's Wings', and 'Morning Has Broken'. Casketbearers were Richie Holderman, Jason Sumner, Chris Holderman, Chuck Stanley, Matt Hickman, and Alan Bandyk. The family suggests memorials be made to Garnett Senior Citizen's Center or Golden Heights Living Center. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 3: "Emma Lucille Bennett 1921-2006 Funeral services for Emma Lucille Bennett, 85, Garnett, were Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Bennett died Friday, April 14, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park, KS. Emma Lucille Bennett was born March 6, 1921, west of Richmond, the daughter of Mason Burbank and Allie Leota (Stockwell) McLees. She grew up in Richmond, living there until 1963 when she moved to Garnett where she spent the rest of her life. Lucille and Ellsworth Harold Bennett were married February 1, 1941, at Butler, MO. This union was blessed with five children. Ellsworth preceded her in death on September 29, 1981. Mrs. Bennett was also preceded in death by her parents, Mason and Allie McLees; her brothers, Kenneth McLees and Gerald McLees; one granddaughter, Laura Bennett; and one great-grandson, Ashten Bennett. Lucille is survived by her sons, Benny Bennett and his wife Marilyn of Ottawa, Jim Bennett and his wife Mary of Princeton, Bob Bennett and his wife Charlene of Garnett, and George Bennett and his wife Marilyn of Garnett; her daughter, Marjorie Kay Cassity and her husband Bob of Hoisington; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Hattie McLees of Granby, MO. Music was provided by Rhonda Rhoades, organist. Musical selections included 'Because He Lives' and 'Going Home'. Casketbearers were Lucille's grandson, Jerry Bennett, Kevin Cassity, Craig Cassity, Brandon Cassity, Dennis Bennett, Mark Bennett, and Christopher Bennett.
