King 1919-2006 Funeral services for Max R. King, 86, Homewood, KS, were Monday, January 9, 2006, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa. Interment was in Antioch Cemetery. Mr. King passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2006 in Iola, Kansas. Max R. King was born on December 24, 1919, in rural Waverly, the son of George W. and Edith F. (Keith) King. He grew up and attended grade school in Homewood and was a graduate from Ottawa High School in 1937. On March 8, 1942, Max was united in marriage to Mary Lucile Fredricks in Ottawa. They shared over sixty-three years of marriage. She survives. Max was a lifelong stockman in the Ottawa area for over sixty years. Max's farm was such a big part of his life. He was the sexton at the Antioch and St. John Catholic Cemeteries at Homewood for many years. Max was also the secretary and treasurer of the Antioch Cemetery Board as well. He was a member of the Homewood and Princeton Christian Churches. Max was also the Head Elder at the Princeton Christian Church. He has been a Sunday school teacher since 1966. He loved visiting with people and was known for his kindness and understanding for others. He loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren very much. Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith King. Max is also survived by his sons, Charles A. King and wife, Joann, of Princeton and Tom King and wife Deanna of Iola; his daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jim Jasper of Garnett; his grandchildren, Mike, Matt, Steve, and Brian King, Daniel and Davis Sims, and Becky Trost; his great-grandchildren, Ben and Chaz King; and his step-great- grandchildren, Thomas and Paul Conaway. Max was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was a valuable and respected member of the community and will be deeply missed, but he will always remain in the hearts and thoughts of his family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Princeton Christian Church. Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 2: "Mary Agnes Rockers 1934-2006 Funeral Mass for Mary Agnes Rockers, 71, Greeley, was Thursday, January 12, 2006, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Brian Klingele officiating. Interment was in St. Boniface Cemetery, Scipio. Mrs. Rockers died at her home in Greeley on Monday, January 9. Mary Agnes Rockers was born February 19, 1934, in rural Greeley, the daughter of Louis and Theresa (Schrmal) Sommer. She lived in the Greeley area all of her life. Mary worked at the Richmond Nursing Home in the kitchen and volunteered in the library at St. John's School. She was a member of St. John's Church and Altar Society and helped with the cleaning and set up at the church. Mary enjoyed painting and travel, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Mary and Martin Rockers were married April 26, 1954, at Greeley. This union was blessed with nine children. He survives of the home. Mrs. Rockers was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy in 1955; her parents, Louis and Theresa Sommer; her brothers, Louis, Harry, John, Dick, and Paul; and her sister, Theresa Katzer. Mary is also survived by her sons, Tom Rockers and his wife Rosalie of Greeley, Jake Rockers and his wife Rhonda of Greeley, Jeff Rockers of Winfield, MO, and Dave Rockers and his wife Denise of Greeley; her daughters, Debbie Hoyt and her husband John of Carman, IL, Karen Voights of Greeley, Denise Hullopeter and her husband Al of Mound City, and Miss Brummel and her husband Mike of Louisburg; her brother, Leo Sommer of Greeley; her sisters, Anna Marie Kratzberg and Margie Morgan, both of Greeley; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Sue Hardman, organist, and Richard Parks, vocalist. Musical selections included 'On Eagle's Wings', 'Lord Of The Dance', 'How Great Thou Art', and 'Let There Be Peace On Earth'. Casketbearers were Kenny Dykes, Donnie Lickteig, Leon Morgan, James Poss, Gary Wolken, and Joe Wolken. Honorary casketbearers were Lavonne Chase, Patsy Dykes, Gerry Ross, and Pearl Simms. Page 5, Column 3: "Sherre Lynne (Rodman) Lepley 1946-2006 Funeral services for Sherre Lynne (Rodman) Lepley, 59, Ottawa, were Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, with Rev. Harriet Bechtle officiating. Mrs. Lepley died Tuesday, January 3, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. Sherre Lynne Lepley was born August 31, 1946, at Kansas City, KS, the daughter of James Nevil and Maude (Neale) Rodman. She enjoyed helping in day care centers, and loved her arts and crafts, her animals, and doing things with her family. Sherre was married to Charles Wilson, Sr. and then to Terry K. Lepley. Mrs. Lepley was preceded in death by her parents, James and Maude Rodman. Sherre is survived by her sons, James M. Freeman and wife Sharon of Utah, John P. Freeman of Lawrence, and Charles E. Wilson, Jr. of Garnett; her daughter, April Coulter and husband Robert of Garnett; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Casketbearers were Charles E. Wilson, Jr., James M. Freeman, John P. Freeman, and Robert Coulter. Memorial contributions are suggested to help the family with expenses. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." "Phyllis I. Hutchens 1950-2006 Graveside services and inurnment for Phyllis I. Hutchens, 55, Iola, were Saturday, January 7, 2006, at Kincaid Cemetery, Kincaid, with Pastor Jeff Cokely officiating. Mrs. Hutchens died Wednesday, January 4, at Windsor Place, Iola. Phyllis I. Hutchens was born February 14, 1950, at Colony, the daughter of Lester and Julia (Hunsaker) Culbertson. She grew up in California, graduating from high school in Norwalk, CA, in 1976, where she lived until moving to Iola in 1990. Mrs. Hutchens was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Julia Culbertson. Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Wendy Sonka and husband Marc of Iola and Julie Kinney and husband Jason of LaHarpe; her brothers, Richard Culbertson of Iola, Jack Culbertson of Modesto, CA, and Jerry Schroeder of Seattle, WA; her grandsons, Geoffrey Sonka of Iola and Gage Kinney of LaHarpe; and her granddaughter, Nikala Kinney of LaHarpe.
