Wolken 1951-2006 Mass of Christian Burial for Terrence 'Terry' R. Wolken, 55, Lawrence, is Friday, May 19, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Lawrence. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence. Mr. Wolken died Sunday, May 14, at his home. Terrence R. Wolken was born January 5, 1951, at Garnett, the son of Robert and Beatrice 'Betty' (Jacobs) Wolken. He attended school in Scipio. Terry was self-employed, installing floor covering for more than 30 years in the Lawrence area. Terry and Shirley E. Winter were married on October 15, 1994. She survives; of their home. Mr. Wolken was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby. Terry is also survived by his mother, Betty Wolken of Pittsburg; his daughter, Tracy Pobjoy of Lawrence; his stepsons, Jeffrey Henneberg of Lawrence and Justin Henneberg of Lenexa; two other children from a previous marriage; his sisters, Barbara Diedel of Lawrence and Judy Pearce of Pittsburg; his brother, Nick of Ottawa; and nine grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice Care of Douglas County and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence, is in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 3: "Virginia Elizabeth Herman 1922-2006 Funeral services for Virginia Elizabeth Herman, 83, Garnett, were Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was private family services. Mrs. Herman died Friday, May 12, at Golden Heights Living Center. Virginia Elizabeth Herman was born June 12, 1922, at Garnett, the daughter of Roscoe Alden and Marion Elizabeth King. She attended Longfellow and Irving Schools and graduated from Garnett High School in 1941. She attended Baker University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Virginia and Donald Herman were married May 13, 1944. He preceded her in death. Virginia lived with family in Norwalk, CA, after which she moved to Garnett with her two younger children. She worked for a short time at Sutton's Jewelry, then 16 « years for JC Penney and six years for Sears. She was a member of BPW, the Anderson County Hospital Auxiliary, and wrote a column, 'Good News', for the Garnett Review for seven years. Mrs. Herman was also preceded in death by her sons, Dee K. Herman and Dennis K. Herman; and her sisters, Cecile Powell and Marjorie Dalton. Virginia is survived by her daughters, Susan Elizabeth Catron and her husband Bob of Olathe and Barbara K. Tucker and her husband Tom of Garnett; her granddaughters, Sheila M. Catron of Belton, MO, and Julianne E. Wright and her husband Jim, of Shawnee; and her great-grandchildren, Alexander P. Wright and Grace E. Wright. Music was provided by Jon Covault. The family suggests memorials be made to Golden Heights Living Center or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Kansas State University, Dr. Kenneth Harkin Cat Adoption Agency.
