Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment will be private family services. Mrs. Herman died Friday, May 12, at Golden Heights Living Center. The family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday. The family suggests memorials be made to Golden Heights Living Center or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Kansas State University, Dr. Kenneth Harkin Cat Adoption Agency. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements." "Mary J. Taylor 1932-2006 Funeral services for Mary J. Taylor, 74, Ottawa, were Friday, May 12, 2006, at Dengel and Son Mortuary with Pastor Richard Dunn officiating. Interment was on Saturday, May 13, at Dooley Bend Cemetery in Wheatland, MO. Mrs. Taylor died Tuesday, May 9, at Richmond Health Care, Richmond, KS. Mary J. Taylor was born January 21, 1932, at Everton, AR, the daughter of Melvin and Ada (O'Daniel) Robertson. She graduated from Bruno High School in Bruno, AR, with the Class of 1948. She lived 10 years in Kansas City, MO, before moving to Ottawa in 1962. Jean worked as Administrative Assistant at Ottawa Truck for 25 years before retiring in 1997. Prior to that, she worked at Raymond Brooks Trucking, Ottawa. Jean attended First Assembly of God Church in Ottawa, and was a former member of Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, also in Ottawa. Jean and Lex Taylor were married on April 1, 1950, at Harrison, AR. He survives of their home. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her son, Kenny Taylor; her grandson, Ron Meineke, Jr.; her parents, Ada and Melvin Robertson; and her brother, Cecil Robertson. Jean is also survived by her daughters and husbands, Angie and Tony Wilper of Wellsville, Ginger and Ron Meineke of Wheatland, MO, and Anita and Mickey Banks of Holly Hill, FL; her sister, Lunnell Jarrett of Everton, AR; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to Midland Hospice or Franklin County Cancer Foundation. Dengel and Son Mortuary was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 4: "Elsie Viola 'Graycie' Cooksey 1910-2006 Funeral services for Elsie Viola 'Graycie' Cooksey, 95, Garnett, were Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Cooksey died Tuesday, May 9, at Golden Heights Living Center. Elsie Viola 'Graycie' Cooksey was born December 13, 1910, at LaCrosse, KS, the daughter of John E. and Kathryn (Reifsnieder) Beltz. After graduating from Gove High School in Gove, KS, she moved to LaCrosse and was employed by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Graycie and Ernest M. 'Ben' Franklin were married in 1931 at Salina and they moved to Garnett where they opened Franklin Drug Store. While Ben served in the Army in World War II, she operated the store and broadcast a radio show from their store called 'The Garnett Hour'. She was a cancer survivor who raised money for cancer research. Ben died February 2, 1974. Graycie then married William Allen 'Bill' Cooksey on November 28, 1981, in Garnett. He also preceded her in death on May 10, 2003. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Cooksey is survived by her stepchildren, Bob Cooksey and his wife Mary Lee of Garland, TX, Dick Cooksey and his wife Maxine of Allen, TX, and Linda Cooksey Ward and her husband Oren of Shell Knob, MO; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and her niece, Norma Neis of Colorado. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Scott Schulte, vocalist. Musical selections included 'The Lord's Prayer' and 'In The Garden'. Casketbearers were Graycie's grandchildren, Brad Cooksey, Kevin Cooksey, Steve Cooksey, Scott Cooksey, Ben Cooksey, Shannon Cooksey, Derek Ward, and Wendi Ward Hines.
