Johnson 1933-2006 Funeral services for Frank S. Johnson, 72, Garnett, were Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin and Rev. Chuck Murphy officiating. Cremation followed the service. Mr. Johnson died Sunday, July 2, at his home. Frank S. Johnson was born August 7, 1933, at Kansas City, MO, the son of Frank and Gladys (Glassborn) Johnson. He lived most of his life in the Kansas City area, moving to Garnett in 1991. He was a stone mason and bricklayer, working for many years for John Verstraight Masonry. He was an excellent mason and worked on smaller projects until his health would not allow. Frank enjoyed fishing and oil painting, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren. Frank and Hilda King were married in Garnett. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gladys Johnson; his brother, Donald Johnson; and his sister, Shirley Konkel. Frank is survived by his wife, Hilda, of the home; his sons, Ronnie Sheffield and his wife Barbara of Mims, FL, and Larry Sheffield and his wife Debbie of Coca, FL; his daughters, Michelle Nelson and her husband John of Eldorado Springs, MO, and Teresa Chambers and her husband Keith of Garnett; his brothers, John Johnson of Bonner Springs, Bob Johnson of Smithville, MO, and Denny Johnson and Wayne Johnson, both of Kansas City, KS; his sisters, Helen Johnson of Arizona, Nancy Feurgonson of Eldorado, MO, and Dianne West of Kansas City, KS: seven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Music was provided by Chuck Murphy, vocalist. Musical selections included 'In The Garden', 'Old Rugged Cross', and 'I Can Only Imagine'. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 2: "Merle E. Hilligas 1927-2006 Graveside inurnment services for Merle E. Hilligas, 79, Garnett were Saturday, July 1, 2006, at the Garnett Cemetery with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Mr. Hilligas died Tuesday, June 27, at Anderson County Hospital. Merle E. Hilligas was born April 3, 1927, at Aliceville, the son of John and Carrie (Loschen) Hilligas. He served his country in the United States Navy. He owned and operated his own truck line. Merle and Arlene Hilligas were married September 3, 1946, at Hastings, NE. She preceded him in death on July 27, 1998. Mr. Hilligas was also preceded in death by his parents, John and Carrie Hilligas; and his brothers, John Floyd Hilligas and Calvin James Hilligas. Merle is survived by his sons, Donald Hilligas of Porterville, CA, Charles Hilligas of Fosest City, NC, Dennis Hilligas of Summerville, SE, Steven Hilligas of Blue Hill, NE, and Kenneth Hilligas of Kempner, TX; his daughters, Connie Ward of Houston, TX, Janice Richter of Omaha, NE, and Joanne Hohlfeld of Holstein, HE; his sisters, Virginia, Elsie, Dorothy, Nancy, Doris, and Frances; his brother, Earl Hilligas; his favorite aunt, Gertie Deter of Hastings, NE; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to Anderson County Hospital. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 3: "James D. Good 1933-2006 Funeral services for James D. Good, 72, Garnett, were Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Farris- Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mr. Good died Tuesday, June 27, at Golden Heights Living Center. James D. Good was born September 12, 1933, in Anderson County, the son of Carl Charles and Alice Margaret (Walsh) Good. He grew up in the Harris area where he lived most of his life as a farmer. Jim's farm served as a weather reporting station for many years. He served his country with the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion, serving on the Honor Guard for many funerals. He also served several years on the Anderson County Co-Op Board of Directors. Jim enjoyed coin collecting, golf, and his friends. Jim and Delores Morris were married August 9, 1957, at Miami, OK. This union was blessed with four children. She preceded him in death on March 21, 1989. Mr. Good was also preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Alice Good; and his brother Eldon Good. Jim is survived by his son, Kenny Good and his wife, Julia, of Garnett; his daughters, Karen Brinkmeyer and her husband, Mick, of Garnett, Cathy Bunton and her husband, Mike, of Lamar, MO, and Chris Rockers of Augusta, KS; his brother, Lewis Good of Parsons; his sister, Wanda McCracken of Milpitas, CA; his grandchildren, Becky Crawford, Scott Brinkmeyer, Adam Bunton, Molly Bunton, Emily Bunton, Caleb Good, Christopher Good, Raeannah Good, M'Shia Good, Lindsey McGrath, and Laryssa McGrath and his great-grandchild, Camrym Crawford. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Scott Schulte, vocalist. Musical selections included 'Amazing Grace', 'What Do I Know', and 'One Day At A Time'. Casketbearers were Scott Brinkmeyer, Adam Bunton, Caleb Good, Christopher Good, Tom Crawford, Dan Good, and John Good. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
