July 28, 2006 The ADVOCATE Serving Anderson, Southern Franklin and Western Linn Counties Volume 10, No. 57 Transcribed with permission of Vern Brown Page 5, Column 1: "Clara Belle Holloman 1923-2006 Funeral services for Clara Belle Holloman 'Peachie', 82, Garnett, are Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel. Interment is in Goodrich Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Holloman died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, July 25, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care Unit. Clara Belle Holloman was born November 4, 1923, to Walter E. and Sarah Ellen (Berry) Simpson at Centerville, where she was raised. On November 14, 1943, Clara married Lyle Reed Holloman, also of Centerville. The couple had two children, Dennis Lyle, who passed on at the tender age of twelve and Lucinda (Cindy) Sue. Clara and her family lived in several towns and cities before they settled in rural Centerville. There, Clara was a devoted housewife. She and Lyle spent their time tending to their garden, raising rabbits, harvesting honey from their honey bees, and spending as much time with their grandchildren as they possibly could. After the death of her husband, Lyle, in September of 1986, Clara moved to Moran where she could be with her daughter, Cindy, and family. In 1994 she moved to Garnett where she remained until her death. Clara was a member of the Methodist Church in Centerville before moving to Moran, where she became a member at Hope Chapel. Clara had many loves, the first of which was her family. Everything in her life was centered around those she loved. She enjoyed going fishing with her daughter and grandchildren and working in the garden with her husband. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Holloman was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her son, Dennis; her parents, Walter and Sarah; her sister, Ruth; her brother-in-law, Roy Holloman; her nephew, Jonny Eicke; and her great-granddaughter, Haley Mae Ross. Clara is survived by her daughter, Cindy and her husband Jerry Lindsay of Garnett; her five grandchildren, Paula and her husband Craig Miller of Moran, Shane and his wife Rose' Holloway of Garnett, Ben and his wife Lori Holloway of Bellevue, NE, Tammy and her husband Randy Hermreck of Garnett, and Kimberly Lindsay of Parker. Clara took great joy in all her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren who include: Cheyanne Miller, Dakota Holloway and sister Zia Holloway, brothers Trevor and Andrew Holloway, Kristen Ross, and brother Joseph Hermreck, and Jaiden Durand. Other surviving members of her family are her brother, Rufus and his wife Viola Simpson of Florida; her sisters Esther Eicke of Ohio and Nora Magus of Independence, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
