Vaughn 1929-2006 Memorial services for Marjorie M. Vaughn, 76, Moran, were Friday, August 11, 2006, at Moran Christian Church with Pastor Bill LaPorte officiating. Mrs. Vaughn died Sunday, August 6, at Allen County Hospital in Iola. Marjorie M. Vaughn was born December 12, 1929, at Shelby, IA, the daughter of Howard Leslie and Jensine 'Sena' (Nelsen) Norman. She lived in Iowa until moving to California at the age of 26. She lived in Escondido, CA, for 26 years before moving to Longview, WA, living there for 26 years before moving to Boise, ID, in May of 2005. She moved to Moran in February of 2006. Marjorie was united in marriage to Leo Vaughn in 1957 at Escondido, CA. He preceded her in death in 1968. She was a licensed practical nurse and was a lifetime member of the Elks. She enjoyed bingo, fishing, and camping, but was especially fond of Seattle Mariners baseball. Mrs. Vaughn was also preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Jensine Norman; her sister, Bonnie Lett; and her brother, Morley Norman. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Linda Brown and her husband, James, of Moran; her sister, Lois Brooks of Roseville, CA; her grandchildren, Robert Gardner of Spokane, WA, Tami Busack of Boise, IA, and Mike Gardner of Longview, WA; and her great- grandchildren, Andrew, Zachary, Rachel, Eric, Jeremy, Corey, Catie, and Madison. Music was provided by Felicia Schubert, vocalist. Musical selections included 'Amazing Grace' and 'In The Garden'. Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Moran, was in charge of arrangements." "Aral Adrian Bonham 1914-2006 Funeral services for Aral Adrian Bonham, 91, Garnett, were Monday, August 14, 2006, at First Christian Church with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Bonham died Friday, August 11, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care facility. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. A complete obituary will appear in the next Advocate. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 2: "James E. Finney 1937-2006 Funeral services for James E. Finney, 69, Greeley, were Friday, August 11, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Phil Rhoades, David Finney, and Bill Hull officiating. Interment was in Greeley Cemetery. Mr. Finney died Monday, August 7, as the result of a car-train accident near Greeley. James E. Finney was born June 22, 1937, at Independence, KS, the son of Carl Chester and Vivia J. (McClure) Finney. He moved to Southern California from Kansas at the age of six. He lived in the San Fernando Valley area and Saugus, CA, until moving to their home in Greeley in 1988. He graduated from high school in Southgate, CA. After serving in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962, Jim worked as a police officer for a few years before working in the automotive service industry and as a charter/school bus driver. He was an excellent singer and was very involved in the churches he attended. After retiring, he and Jackie opened their home to 13 foster children, adopting four of them. He was a handyman and always found projects to keep busy. Jim married Carol Ann Shelley on August 22, 1959. Three children were born to this union. They later divorced. She preceded him in death. Jim and Jackie Rutherford were married on June 13, 1981, at Saugus, CA. She survives, of their home. Mr. Finney was preceded in death by his sons, Steven Daniel Finney and D'Ron Finney; his daughters, Jessica Michelle and Heidi Issler; his parents, Carl and Vivia Finney; his sister, Ginger Finney; and his brother, Daniel Robert Finney. Jim is also survived by his sons, Daniel Finney of Garnett and Jalaani James Finney of the home; his step-sons, Jerry Rutherford of Greeley and John Rutherford of Ellsworth; his son-in-law, Mike Issler of Afton, WY; his daughters, Shelley Clark and her husband David of Royse City, TX, and Alisha Lynn Finney of the home; his step-daughter, Sue Kent of Acton, CA; his brothers, Tom Finney of Manhattan and David Finney of Southern California; his sister, Mary J. Plum of Waterville; and 12 grandchildren. Musical selections included 'Dance With My Father', 'Go Rest High On That Mountain', and 'What A Friend We Have In Jesus' as a congregational hymn. Casketbearers were Dan Finney, Bill Leeker, Bill Hull, Jerry Rutherford, Mike Jennings, and Sky Thompson. Memorial contributions will help defray funeral expenses. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 3: Dale A. Church 1918-2006 Funeral services for Dale A. Church, 88, Colony, were Monday, August 14, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Colony with Pastor Steve Bubna officiating. Interment was in Lone Elm Cemetery. Mr. Church died Thursday, August 10, at Allen County Hospital in Iola. Dale A. Church was born January 19, 1918, at Kincaid, the son of Arthur and Ruth (Marshall) Church. As a boy living near Deer Creek north of Lone Elm, Dale loved fishing and hunting with his brothers, Wayne and Joe. Dale became an accomplished farmer learning to work horses in the fields and later learning to use tractors and combines. Dale attended school in Lone Elm and graduated from Kincaid High School in 1939. After graduation, Dale was employed by the John Deere Tractor Company in Marshal, MO. Following this, he enlisted in the Army and became a member of the medical corps at a base in Douglas, AZ. It was during these years in the early 1940's that Dale met the love of his life, Lilia Sosa. They were married April 21, 1945, and moved back to Kansas the following year where they became involved in farming in the Lone Elm and Colony communities. After farming for 12 years, Dale went to work for the Anderson County Maintenance Department, later working for the H&H Ranch in Garnett, and finally the State Highway Department in Garnett, where he served for 19 years. Dale enjoyed a long retirement traveling with Lily to attend activities of their children and grandchildren. It was not uncommon to see a 'train' of grandchildren following their 'Papa' to the fishing pond. Mr. Church was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Marshall Church; his grandson, Brandon Church; his granddaughter, Santana Church; his parents, Arthur and Ruth Church; his sisters, Ruth Church, Sarah Ruth Baron, and Dorothy Walter; and his brother, Kenneth Wayne Church. Dale is survived by his wife, Lilia of the home; children, Mary Hunt and her husband, Alan, of Charlotte, NC, Robert Church and his wife Jeanette of Xenia, KS, Charles Church of Rancho Mirage, CA, Kenneth Church and his wife Sandra of Lansing, and Mike Church and his wife Jeanna of Carlyle; his brother, Joe Church of Colony; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Evelyn Bunnel. Musical selections included 'Amazing Grace', 'How Great Thou Art', 'In The Garden', and 'Old Rugged Cross'. Casketbearers were Chad Church, Eric Church, Adam Church, Clint Church, Caleb Church, Seth Church, and Vincent Brzyski. Honorary casketbearers were Harold Sprague, Maynard Belvore, and John Reiter.
