Chitwood 1987-2006 Mass of Christian Burial for Christopher P. Chitwood, 19, Garnett, were Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Brian Klingele officiating. Interment was in Holy Angels Cemetery. Military honors were by 9th Marine Corps District, United States Marine Corps, Kansas City, MO. Mr. Chitwood died Sunday, September 3, as a result of an accident west of Garnett. Christopher P. Chitwood was born July 16, 1987, at Garnett, the son of Gary L. and Angela M. (Mader) Chitwood. He graduated from Anderson County High School with the Class of 2005. Chris was active in the local Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 13. He played football and basketball all four years at Anderson County High School and was also involved in Student Council. He graduated from ACHS with the Class of 2005. He joined the Marine Corps in June 2005. After sustaining a leg injury during training he was medically discharged at the rank of Private First Class. He was a machine operator at Superior Wheel in Pittsburg, KS, and also worked at a lumberyard there. Chris is survived by his parents, Gary and Angela Chitwood of Garnett; his brother, Johnathan Chitwood of the home; his grandparents, Carl Mader of Greeley, Florence and Luther Justice of Garnett, and Wayne and Jean Chitwood of Welda; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Music was provided by Lucas Tappen, organist. Musical selections included 'All Creatures Of Our God And King', 'As The Deer Longs', and 'May The Choirs Of Angels Escort You Into Paradise'. Cantor was Jane Lickteig. Casketbearers were Keegan Barnes, Cameron Cooper, Ben King, Brandon McDaniel, Dathan McMurtrey, Glenn Ryman, Jason Setter, Kyle Spring, Jacob Stevenson, Maurice Washington, Dusty Welsh, and Reuben Wolken. The family suggests memorials to the Christopher Chitwood Memorial Fund, the beneficiary to be named later. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." "Twila Knight 1913-2006 Memorial services for Twila Knight, 93, Topeka, were Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at the Klasse Chapel at the First United Methodist Church in Topeka. Mrs. Knight died Sunday, September 3, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. Twila Knight was born April 9, 1913, at Garnett, the daughter of Curtis M. and Stella Adams Warbritton. She graduated from Garnett High School. Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Knight, a Methodist minister, in 1990; her sister, brother, and son-in-law. Twila is survived by two daughters, one son, and her grandchildren and great- grandchildren." Page 5, Column 3: "Eva Mae Miller 1910-2006 Funeral services for Eva Mae Miller, 96, Garnett, is Saturday, September 9, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Brian Klingele officiating. Mrs. Miller died Tuesday, September 5, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Eva Mae Miller was born August 27, 1910, at Marshall, MO, the daughter of Lot and Hannah (Atchley) Doughty. She graduated with an AB Degree in Latin and English, Magna Cum Laude, from Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO, in 1932. Mrs. Miller was secretary and analytic fire insurance rater for the Kansas Inspection Bureau and Insurance Services Organization. Eva and Adolph Miller were married June 5, 1945, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kansas City, KS. They moved to Garnett on June 26, 1977, from Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was a member of Pi Gamma Mu, a Social Science Honorary; Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter of Marshall, MO; Holy Angels Catholic Church and Altar Society, Garnett; and Friends of the Garnett Public Library. Mrs. Miller was also preceded in death by her parents, Lot and Hannah Doughty; her sisters, Chlorene Doughty in 1903; Jessie Humphreys in 1973; and Irene Shart in 1973; and her brother, Maurice Doughty in 1990. Eva is survived by her cousins, Verita Simpson and husband Thomas of Peoria, AZ, and Jeffrey Baker and wife Sherri of Lancaster, OH; and neighbors and friends. A Rosary service will be held tonight, Friday, September 8, at 7:00 p.m. at Farris- Feuerborn Memorial Chapel. The family suggests memorials be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church.
