Schulte 1944-2006 Mass of Christian Burial for Lyle F. Schulte, 61, Colony, was Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Westphalia, with Father Michael Hawken officiating. Interment was in St. Teresa Cemetery. Mr. Schulte died Friday, September 8, at Anderson County Hospital as the result of an accident. Lyle F. Schulte was born December 8, 1944, at Garnett, the son of Fred and Evelyn (Schlick) Schulte. He graduated from Westphalia High School with the Class of 1962. Lyle was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #1052. Upon retiring from the LeRoy Coop after 39 years, he worked for the Anderson County Road Department. Lyle and Kathryn Hiestand were married June 17, 1967, at Westphalia. This union was blessed with three children. She survives, of their home. Mr. Schulte was preceded in death by his father, Fred Schulte on December 6, 1985, and his mother, Evelyn Schulte on June 22, 1993. Lyle is also survived by his sons, Jered Schulte of Lyndon and Jamie Schulte of rural Miami County; his daughter, Cara Bowen of Colony; his sisters, Doris Hellmer of Omaha, NE, Marilyn Blaufuss of Westphalia, and Darleene Hermann of Paola; and eight grandchildren, Ben and Brendt Drew, Blake and Adrian Schulte, Bailey and Carter Schulte, and Cassie and Cole Bowen. Music was provided by Carey Schuh, organist, and Scott Schulte, soloist. Musical selections included 'On Eagle's Wings', 'Here I Am Lord', 'In The Garden', and 'How Great Thou Art'. Casketbearers were Lester Welsh, Butch Ludolph, Mick Blaufuss, Don Meats, Linnie Grosdidier, and Terry Schillig. Honorary casketbearers were Becky Boone, Susan Wettstein, Kenny Schillig, Tom Highberger, Gene Highberger, Andy Thacker, Lyle Fischer, and Vick Blaufuss. The family suggests memorials be made to Anderson County Hospital or to the Westphalia First Responders. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements."
