Mr. Dunlap died Sunday, October 8, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. Lawrence Dunlap was born July 12, 1927, at Orleans, NE, the son of Turner C. and Nellie (Coe) Dunlap. He spent most of his life in the Kincaid area. He was a forklift operator at a telephone wiring factory. Lawrence served in the United States Army during World War II. Lawrence and Barbara Joan Burris were married December 2, 1949, at Kincaid. She survives of their home. Mr. Dunlap was preceded in death by his son, Michael Dunlap in 1984; his parents, Turner and Nellie Dunlap; and his brothers, Floyd Dunlap and Robert Dunlap. Lawrence is also survived by his grandsons, Brett Michael Dunlap, Trent Cameron Dunlap, and Jeffry Kyle Dunlap; three great-grandsons, and his brother; Dee Dunlap of Leon, KS. Musical selections included 'One Day At A Time'. The family suggests memorials be made to Disabled Veterans. Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Moran, is in charge of arrangements." "Nola M. Patterson 1935-2006 Nola M. Patterson, 71, Humboldt, died Friday, September 29, 2006, at her home. Cremation has taken place and no services were held. Nola M. Patterson was born January 1, 1935, at Carlyle, KS, the daughter of Major A. and Carrie Neele Smith. She attended school in Iola and St. Louis, MO. On August 19, 1955, Nola married Larry G. Patterson. Due to his career, they made their home in several communities including Iola, Kansas City, MO, Keokuk, IA, Garnett, and then Hill City. For the past 18 years, they have lived in Humboldt. She held a real estate license while residing in the greater Kansas City area. While in Garnett, Nola ran the Patterson Machine Quilting and Yarn shop. She did mail order machine quilting for over 25 years. She enjoyed bowling, golf, and card playing. She was pledged in 1969 as a life member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. On March 21, 1998, she was an organ donation recipient of a transplanted heart. Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon LaRue; two brothers and one sister. Nola is survived by her husband, Larry, of the home; her daughter, Karen Hartwig of Yates Center; her brother, Howard Smith of Elk Horn, NE; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 2: "Darold D. Hayden 1936-2006 Darold D. Hayden, age 70 of Cottonwood, Arizona passed away September 30, 2006. Darold was born May 12, 1936 in Newton to Herb H. Hayden and Lucy (Davis) Hayden. He grew up on a farm in Anderson County. He attended Iantha rural school, a one-room schoolhouse, through eighth grade. He graduated from Garnett High School in 1954. Darold married Norma R. Pierce on January 5, 1958. They were married for 48 « years. After serving his country in the Army in Germany from 1958-1960, the young couple made their home in Harris, later moving to Garnett for the following 40 years. He was proud of his Midwestern upbringing, values and work ethic which he passed along to his family. Darold held many professional positions in his lifetime. He delivered propane throughout Anderson County. He sold real estate for many years. He owned several businesses in Garnett, Kansas including the Burgerteria restaurant, the local Dairy Queen and prior to retirement in 2001, he and his wife Norma owned and operated H & H Auto Sales. No matter what endeavor Darold may have been involved in, his passion was serving people. He thrived when he was able to see a need and then devise a way to fill it. He was widely recognized at his memorial service for the times he had positively impacted a person's life or served as their mentor. With an ornery grin and a twinkle in his eye, he had delivered food, clothing, sage advice and car parts on countless occasions. Darold was a member of the First Christian Church of Garnett for over 50 years. While in Cottonwood, he attended Evangel Worship Center and The Garden Community Church. Darold was quite active in church outreach activities. He had become a well- known face in the community and loved to invite new acquaintances to join him for a church service or special activity. Darold was a proud member of the American Legion, Verde Valley Post 25. He developed an enthusiasm for performing karaoke at the Legion every Friday night. His other hobbies included fishing, sightseeing and an occasional well-planned practical joke. He was quick to come to the aid of those in need. He had a special place in his heart for each and every one of his grandchildren and attended as many of their events as he could manage. Darold is survived and greatly missed by his wife, Norma Hayden of Cottonwood, AZ; three daughters, Brenda Meir of Phoenix, AZ, Denise Wiscombe of Overbrook, and Stacey Hayden of Cottonwood, AZ; six grandchildren, Jeremiah Nilges of Phoenix, AZ, Ashley Wiscombe of Kansas City, KS, Candace Vickers of Cottonwood, AZ, Krystal Wiscombe of Manhattan, Kasey Wiscombe of Manhattan, and Matthew Fagg of Cottonwood, AZ; one great-grandson, Alexander Hayden Pumphrey of Cottonwood, AZ; two brothers, Bob Hayden of Garnett and Dwight Hayden of Loveland, CO. Bennett, 77, Garnett, are Saturday, October 14, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the Kincaid-Selma United Methodist Church in Kincaid. Mr. Bennett died Tuesday, October 10, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. tonight, October 13, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel. A full obituary will appear in the next Advocate. 'Bobbi' Borror, 71, Garnett, were Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at Garnett Cemetery with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Mrs. Borror died Saturday, October 7, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. Roberta A. 'Bobbi' Borror was born July 23, 1935, at Ottawa, the daughter of Robert Dennis and Lorena Mae (Millard) Gleason. Bobbi grew up in West Plains, MO, graduating from high school there. She lived in Neosho and Joplin, MO, most of her life before moving to Garnett in 1996. She married Walter Edward Davidson, Jr. Three children were born to this union. They were later divorced. She then married Jerry Sigars. One son was born to this union. They later divorced. Bobbi and Max Borror were married June 14, 1996, at Miami, OK. He survives, of their home. Bobbi worked in the accounts receivable department of the Oak Hill Hospital in Joplin, MO. Mrs. Borror was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lorena Gleason. Mrs. Borror is also survived by her sons, Mike Davidson and his wife Jean of Clarksville, AR, and Robert Sigars of Joplin, MO; her daughters, Catherine Carter of Paris, AR, and Janet Bynum and her husband Jim of Waldron, AR; her brother, Carl Gleason of State Center, IA; her sisters, Barbara Johnson and Donna Tomlinson, both of Houston, TX, and Linda Calhoun of West Plains, MO; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Musical selections included 'Jesus Is The Light' sung by Charles and Phyllis Grim. Casketbearers were Howard Williams, Sr., Kenny Walton, James Griffen, Clayton Turner, Sr., Clayton Turner, Jr., and Jay Criqui. Honorary casketbearers were Jerry Criqui and Bruce Bennett.
