Shell 1918-2006 Funeral services for Geraldine O. Shell, 88, Garnett, were Friday, October 27, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tony Thornton officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Shell died Tuesday, October 24, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Geraldine O. Shell was born June 29, 1918, at Topeka, the daughter of Clyde and Goldie (White) Minor. She attended Summer School Elementary and Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from Topeka High school with the Class of 1936. She worked for Victor Life Insurance for five years before her marriage to Gwinn. She traveled with her husband for 18 months while he was in the Navy until he was sent to China. They moved to Garnett in 1947. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Garnett and the Nova Vista Club. Gerry and Gwinn Gibson Shell, Sr. were married July 3, 1932, at Topeka. This union was blessed with two children. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1982. Mrs. Shell was also preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Goldie Minor. Gerry is survived by her son, Gwinn G. Shell, Jr., of Kansas City, MO; her daughter, Ann Betz of Topeka; her granddaughters, Amy Browning of Wellsville, Christine Betz of Emporia, and Stephanie Betz of Lawrence; and her grandson, Adam Betz of Lawrence. Casketbearers were Jim Jasper, Greg Hardman, Phil Smith, and Bob Achey. Honorary casketbearers were Bob McDaniel, Mike Burns, Loren Wilson, and Terry Solander. The family suggests memorials be made to First Christian Church. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." "Waneta Nadine Hoffman 1924-2006 Funeral services for Waneta Nadine Hoffman, 82, Greeley, were Monday, October 30, 2006, at Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola Chapel. Interment was in Paola Cemetery. Mrs. Hoffman died Wednesday, October 25, at Anderson County Hospital, Garnett. Waneta Nadine Hoffman was born July 9, 1924, at Paola, the daughter of Wallace Carter and Jessie Elvira (Pearce) Hamm. She grew up in Paola and graduated from Paola High School in 1941. Nadine was united in marriage to John Hoffman on October 18, 1941, and together they became the parents of four children. This marriage later ended in divorce. Nadine worked at Smith's Garment Factory in Paola for 25 years before retiring. She then was employed as a cook at Windy Acres before moving to Greeley to be close to her children. She was a member of the Garment Workers Union. Nadine enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, cooking, and visiting with her friends all over the world via computer. Mrs. Hoffman was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Jessie Hamm; her daughter, Susan Hays; her granddaughter, Megan Hoffman; her sister, Wilma Hewitt; and her brother, Larry Hamm. Nadine leaves behind her children, J.D. Hoffman, Steve Hoffman, and Rick Hoffman, all of Greeley; her sister, Maxine Gallagher of Paola; seven grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her greatly.
