Interment is in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Mills died Thursday, December 21, at Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita. Nancy Fay Mills was born August 10, 1935, at Caplinger, Mills, MO, the daughter of William Earl and Dorothy (Lean) Hayden. She was raised in Bear Creek, MO, and the Yates Center, KS, area. After her schooling, Nancy worked in a caf‚ in Durand, KS, where she met her future husband. On March 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to Vernie 'Lee' Mills in Miami, OK. They made their home in Neal, KS, until 1957, when the family moved to Iola. In 1966, they moved to Eureka where Nancy was a babysitter for many local children. In 1979, she began her career in health care at the Lyndon Nursing Home. When the Lyndon Nursing Home closed in the early 1980's, she continued her career at Medicalodge of Eureka where she was Social Services Director. She retired in July 2004. Mrs. Mill was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, on July 12, 1996; her parents, William and Dorothy Hayden; two brothers, and three sisters. Nancy is survived by her sons, Sam Mills of El Dorado; Bill Mills of Eureka, and Bob Mills of Garnett; her daughters, Linda Criswell of Eureka and Kathy Earnest of El Dorado; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Hettie Mitchell of Wichita and Marie Bollingmo of Tucson, AZ. Memorials have been established in her name to the Medicalodge Activity Fund and the Medicalodge Christmas Fund, which may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, Inc., P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, who was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 4: "Wayne E. Chitwood 1930-2006 Funeral services for Wayne E. Chitwood, 76, Welda, were Saturday, December 23, 2006, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Welda Cemetery. Mr. Chitwood died Wednesday, December 20, after a short illness at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Wayne E. Chitwood was born August 11, 1930, at Mont Ida, the son of Harold and Viola (Suess) Chitwood. He graduated from Welda High School in 1948 and served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict. Wayne and Jean Holt were married December 31, 1953, at Welda. They were to celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary on December 31, 2006. She survives of their home. They made their home in Topeka, where Wayne worked at Goodyear for 27 years. After retiring from Goodyear, they moved to Welda where he built their home. Wayne worked at the Garnett Church Furniture Factory for 10 years, and as a janitor for USD #365 for two years. He enjoyed woodworking and his model trains. Mr. Chitwood was also preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Chitwood; and his parents, Harold and Viola Chitwood. Wayne is also survived by his children, Douglas and Sandy Chitwood, and Kathy Beck, all of Topeka, Gary and Angie Chitwood of Garnett, Connie and Dale Peine, and Karen and Jason Petford, all of Welda, Linda and Scott Knox of Halfway, MO, David and Lauren Chitwood of Olathe, and Dan and Stephanie Chitwood of St. George; his sister, Esther Wycoff and her husband Bill of Deming, NM; 20 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Musical selections included 'Amazing Grace', 'How Great Thou Art', and 'When I Get Where I'm Going'. Casketbearers were Douglas Chitwood, Kathy Beck, Gary Chitwood, Connie Peine, Karen Petford, Linda Knox, David Chitwood, and Dan Chitwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Welda Community Building, or the donor's favorite charity. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements."
