Wren 1918-2006 Funeral services for Martha D. Wren, 87, Iola, formerly of Kincaid, were Friday, January 27, 2006, at Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel, Iola, with Pastor Arlin Cochran officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Wren died January 24 at Crete Area Medical Center in Crete, NE. Martha D. Wren was born June 16, 1918, at Salida, CO, the daughter of Harry and Maude (Trusket) Downing. She grew up in Colorado and after she graduated from high school, she went to visit an aunt in Paradise, CA. While there, she met the man of her dreams, Frank Wren. Soon after their marriage in July of 1942, they moved to Kansas. They made their home on a farm near Kincaid, where she worked as a farm wife and also joined the Best Yet Club. She remained a dedicated member of the club until it dissolved in 2000. In 1992, they retired and moved to their home east of Iola. Mr. Wren died August 5, 1005. Martha was a member of the Iola Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and baking, and quilting and embroidery. Mrs. Wren was also preceded in death by her grandson, Cayden Wren; her brother, James Downing; and her sister, Freda Mackey. Martha is survived by her sons, Harold Wren and his wife, Sherita of El Dorado and James Wren and his wife Linda of Lincoln, NE; her daughter, Betty Chapman and her husband Dee of Shelton, NE; her sister, Mina Case of Riverside, CA; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Iola Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel was in charge of arrangements." Page 15, Column 2: "Mildred Lorraine Rechtfertig 1917-2006 Funeral Mass for Mildred Lorraine Rechtfertig, 88, Ottawa, is Friday, February 3, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa. Interment is in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Rechtfertig died Monday, January 30, at Richmond Health Care Center. Mildred Lorraine Rechtfertig was born August 30, 1917, at Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Edwin and Clara (Nemmers) Larson. She lived in Waterloo for sixty years, moving to Ottawa in 1978. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Waterloo with the Class of 1934. She was a homemaker and was noted for her total dedication to raising her six children in a loving Christian home. She was deeply loved by her 23 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren. Mildred died peacefully enveloped in the love and devotion of her family. She enjoyed reading, knitting, ceramics, and Bible study. Mildred was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Ladies' Guild, Christian Women's Club, Oasis Club, and Peoria Plotter's Extension Homemaker Unit, all in Ottawa. Mildred and Robert 'Bob' Rechtfertig were married June 24, 1937, at Waterloo. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1984. Mrs. Rechtfertig was also preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara (Rechtfertig) Clark; her parents, Edwin and Clara Larson; her sisters, Deloris Brown and Lucille Haffa; her brothers, Harold Larson, Raymond Larson, Eugene Larson, and Don Larson; and her grandson, Scott Rechtfertig. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kansas. Dengel and Son Mortuary was in charge of arrangements." Page 15, Column 3: "Jeneveve A. Fagg 1918-2006 Graveside services and interment for Jeneveve A. Fagg, 88, Emporia, were Monday, January 30, 2006, at Garnett Cemetery with Rev. Donna Coon officiating. Mrs. Fagg died Friday, January 27, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia. Jeneveve A. Fagg was born January 7, 1918, at Selma, the daughter of James Oliver and Charlotte Katherine (Madole) Womack. She worked for USD #253 as a food server at Logan Avenue Elementary School in Emporia. Jeneveve was a member of First Baptist Church in Emporia. Jeneveve and Thomas L. Fagg were married March 1, 1934, at Iola. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Fagg was also preceded in death by her parents, James and Charlotte Womack; her brother; her sister, Myrtle Mae Stevens; and one stepbrother. Jeneveve is survived by her daughters, Diane Feeley of Overland Park and Beverly Huber of Madison; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two step-great- grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to Alterra Sterling House, which may be sent in care of Charter Funerals, 501 West Sixth Avenue, Emporia, KS 66801, which was in charge of arrangements."
