Steve Mitchell officiating. Interment was in Colony Cemetery. Dr. Shockey died Sunday, December 24, at his daughter's home in Wichita. Laurence Shockey was born October 7, 1919, in Butler County, KS, the son of Wayne Howard and Laurel (Ferguson) Shockey. Doc grew up in Wichita and Kansas City, moving to Mildred following school. He attended Allen County Community College until entering the service in 1941. He served in the Philippines during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to Kansas and attended Kansas State University, earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1952. Upon graduation, he established his practice serving the livestock producers in the area of Mildred, KS. In 1998, he moved to Wichita to be near his daughter, Nancy. While in Wichita, he worked for his daughter and son-in-law in their business, Air Capital Catering. Doc and Frances Farris were married June 22, 1955, at Colony. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1996. Dr. Shockey was also preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Laurel Shockey. Doc is survived by his daughters, Nancy Kuns and her husband Sam of Wichita, and Terri Mitchell and her husband Steve of Des Moines, IA; and his grandchildren, Nate McCoy and Megan McCoy, both of Des Moines, IA; and Tommy Kuns, Will Kuns, Anna Kuns, and Samantha Kuns, all of Wichita. Music was provided by Lloyd Houk. Musical selections included 'Abide With Me', 'Jesus Paid It All', 'Amazing Grace'. Casketbearers were Sam Kuns, Gary Garrison, Nathan McCoy, Leo Nilges, Bill Brixey, Michael Becker, Gene Covey, and Bob Markley. The family suggests memorials be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, which may be left in care of the funeral home. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapels was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 2: "Goldie I. Nichols 1916-2006 Funeral services for Goldie I. Nichols, 90, Richmond, were Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Mrs. Nichols died Thursday, December 21, at Richmond Care Center. Goldie I. Nichols was born February 28, 1916, in Ness County, KS, the daughter of George and Mary Florilla (Brubaker) McCurdy. She was a near lifelong Franklin County resident. Goldie worked as a cook. She and her husband owned and operated their own restaurant before they were associated with his brother, Lee, at Lee's Downtowner for over 10 years. She also cooked at Lee's in the south part of Ottawa. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Ottawa and Pathfinders Sunday School class. On November 6, 1956, Goldie was united in marriage with Clyde Nichols at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1970. Mrs. Nichols was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary McCurdy; her stepdaughters, Kay Russell and Julia Nitcher; her stepson, Riley Converse Nichols; her sisters, Dorothy Hornecker, Iota McCurdy, Leota Nichols, and Lucille Lang; and her brothers, Elton McCurdy and Howard McCurdy. Goldie is survived by her stepdaughter, Carolyn Layton of Wellsville; her stepson, Dr. Sherman Nichols of Taos, NM; 20 stepgrandchildren; 29 stepgreat-grandchildren; her nieces, Mary Ann Hess of Paola, and Dorothy Rodgers, Louise Lang, Lela Mae Santarpia, and Elizabeth Page, all of Ottawa; her nephew, George Lang of Olathe; and many additional nieces and nephews. "Clara Virginia Wolf 1963-2006 Graveside services and interment for Clara Virginia Wolf, 43, Pleasanton, were Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at Cherry Mound Cemetery, Westphalia, with Pastor Doug Mulligan officiating. Ms. Wolf died Tuesday, December 26, at her home in Pleasanton. Clara Virginia Wolf was born February 19, 1963, at Garnett, the daughter of Gail Lane and Patricia Juanita (Dinsmore) Bradley. She graduated from Garnett High School. She was a nurse. Ms. Wolf is survived by her sons, Patrick Warden Wesley Bradley and Dale Lane Bradley; her daughter, Jennifer Lynn Bradley; her brothers, Michael Lane Bradley of Mesa, AZ, and Roger Wesley Bradley of Iraq; her sisters, Sherri Patterson and her husband Dean of Pleasanton, and Gail Lynn Bradley of Mesa, AZ; and her granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Bradley and Haven Marie Bradley. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 3: "Laverne E. Griner 1918-2006 Mass of Christian Burial for Laverne E. Griner, 88, Richmond, was Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at St. Therese Catholic Church with Father Emil Agostino officiating. Interment was in St. Boniface Cemetery, Scipio. Mrs. Griner died Friday, December 22, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Laverne E. Griner was born March 19, 1918, in Anderson County, the daughter of Christopher and Elizabeth (Pickert) Hermreck. She grew up in Anderson County, moving to Kansas City, MO, in the early 1940's. She worked at the H.D. Lee factory and then later at the Allied Signal plant. Laverne and Robert L. Griner were married July 3, 1943, at Kansas City, MO. He survives. Following retirement in 1974, she and Robert moved to Richmond where she lived until entering the nursing home in January of 2006. Laverne was an active member of the St. Therese Church and Altar Society in Richmond. She enjoyed the outdoors and yard work. Mrs. Griner was preceded in death by three brothers. Laverne is also survived by her brother Conrad Hermreck and his wife Ann of Richmond; her sisters, Eileen Miller and her husband Clyde of Garnett, and Wilma Meier of Nipomo, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Music was provided by Mary Milner, organist, the Mader Family, vocalists, and Greg Mader, soloist. Musical selections included 'Be Not Afraid', 'How Great Thou Art', and 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'. Casketbearers were Jerry Hermreck, Terry Hermreck, Larry Hermreck, Ronnie Miller, and Jeff Meier. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Therese Catholic Church, Richmond.
