Interment was in Goodrich Cemetery in Goodrich, KS. Mrs. Williamson died Friday, December 29, 2006, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett. Florence Pauline Williamson was born June 4, 1916, at Meigs County, OH, the oldest of four children born to Rodolph DeSteiguere Jeffers and Ina Lenora (Hines) Jeffers. She was valedictorian of the 1934 graduating class of Shade High School in Meigs County, OH. She went to Bliss Business College in Columbus, OH, then to nursing school at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, OH. Florence was married in Columbus, OH, to Kenneth O. Williamson on August 4, 1940. They were the parents of two children. They lived in Columbus for one year, then Marion, OH, from 1941 to 1948. Later they lived in Denver, CO, Castleton on The Hudson, and Tulsa, OK. They moved to Kansas City, MO, in 1958. In 1959, they started their own business, The Center Machinery Company, of Kansas City, MO. She was a 49% owner. They sold the business in 1981. They moved to rural Parker in 1983. Mr. Williamson died on August 3, 2002. Florence was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Disabled Veterans Auxiliary, and was a former member of the Eastern Star. Florence is survived by her son, Kenneth Michael Williamson of Pompey, NY; her daughter, Jeanette Marie O'Brennan of Watauga, TX; her sisters, Ruby Mae Neptune and Fern Louise Weissman, both of West Newton, MA; three grandchildren and one great- grandchild due June 8, 2007. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude's Hospital. Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements." Page 3, Column 2: "Sister Mary Adelaide Bowman OSU 1928-2006 Funeral mass for Sister Mary Adelaide Bowman OSU, 78, Paola, is Friday, January 5, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ursuline Chapel, Paola. Sister Adelaide died Tuesday, January 2, at the Ursuline Convent in Paola. Sister Adelaide was born Virginia Ann Bowman on May 13, 1928, at Greeley, the daughter of Anthony and Adelaide (Lickteig) Bowman. She was received into the Ursuline Community as Sister Mary Adelaide on August 16, 1960, and made her final profession of vows on August 16, 1965. Sister Adelaide graduated from Greeley High School and Templeman's School of Cosmetology in Kansas City, MO. She worked as a hairdresser and manicurist in Kansas City, and later as a nurse's aide in Tulsa, OK, before joining the Ursuline Community. Throughout her years as an Ursuline, Sister Adelaide has held several community service positions; working in the Ursuline kitchen, taking care of infirm sisters in Monica Hall, cooking at Queen of the Holy Rosary Convent in Overland Park, and assisting with cleaning and retreat preparation. Sister Adelaide was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Adelaide Bowman; her brothers, Merle Bowman and Anthony Bowman, Jr.; and her sister, Caroline Miner. She is survived by her sisters, Hildred Wittman and her husband Henry of Garnett, Rose Guilfoyle and her husband Anthony of Sperry, OK, and Theresa Kipper of St. Peter's MO; many nieces and nephews, and cousins; and her Ursuline Sisters. Sister Adelaide was a kind, loving woman who showed us all what it means to be a Christian. She was always grateful and cheerful, and her life was a model of simplicity. We will miss her very much. Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola Chapel, is in charge of arrangements." Page 3, Column 3: "Melvin E. Miller 1918-2006 Funeral services for Melvin E. Miller, 88, Westphalia, were Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Westphalia, with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery, Westphalia. Mr. Miller died near his farm on Friday, December 29, 2006. Melvin E. Miller was born June 18, 1918, at Hugoton, KS, the son of Clarence Edwin and Nellie Mabel (Teghtmeyer) Miller. He was a farmer and stockman. Melvin and Fern Marie Hirt were married on August 27, 1944, near Westphalia. She survives of their home. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Miller; his brother-in-law, Irvin Hoblit; his granddaughter, Bonnie Miller; his great-grandson, Wade Miller; and his great- granddaughter, Carina Stamy. Melvin is also survived by his sons, Everett Miller and his wife Lois of Garnett, Harold Miller of Waverly and daughter-in-law, Lydia Miller of Westphalia, Gail Miller of the home, and Dale Miller and his wife Sharon of Garnett; his sisters, Evelyn Hoblit of Gettysburg, OH, and Elsie Smith of Mission, TX; eight grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren. Casketbearers were Paul Stamy, Rodney Miller, John Miller, Henry Miller, Allen Miller, and Mike Flora. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements."
