Hermreck 1927-2002 Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene H. Hermreck, 75, Greeley, KS, was Friday, August 2, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Greeley, with Father Tony Lickteig and Father George Matz officiating. Interment is in St. John’s Cemetery. Mr. Hermreck died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam, KS. Eugene H. Hermreck was born March 2, 1927, at Greeley, KS, the son of Christopher and Catherine (Pickert) Hermreck. He grew up in the area of East Scipio School and attended school there. During World War II, he served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater. Eugene lived in Greeley, where he was a farmer/stockman and a pipefitter for Taylor Forge for many years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Plumbing and Pipefitter’s Local #763, and was a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 6887. Eugene and Florine Lickteig were married February 1, 1949, at Greeley. Mr. Hermreck was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Catherine Hermreck; a brother, Leonard Hermreck; and two sisters, Maureen Walsh and Joan Kramer. Eugene is survived by his wife, Florine Hermreck, of the home; his sons, Ronald Hermreck, Garnett, Timothy Hermreck, of the home, Edward Hermreck, Greeley, KS, and Alvin Hermreck, Greeley, KS; his daughters, Pauline Ekpo, Lawrence, KS, Louise Smith, Ottawa, KS, and Cynthia Hermreck, Lawrence, KS; his brothers, Omer Hermreck, Garnett, Henry Hermreck, Overland Park, KS, Norman Hermreck, Temecula, Ca, and Herbert Hermreck, Temecula, CA; his sisters, Rita Osler, Garnett, Florence Shields, Garnett, and Doris Smith, Burlington, WI; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends following the Rosary Service, which will be Thursday, August 1, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
