Virgil Keith Miller was born August 28, 1953, at Fort Scott, KS, the son of Keith and Venita (Bruner) Miller. He graduated from Crest High School in Colony, KS, attended Allen County Community College, and was a graduate of Kansas State University. He was self-employed as a rancher and also operated an agriculture spray business. Virgil was a member of the PRCA and attended Wall Street Church. Virgil and Nancy Bain were married February 21, 1976. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by an infant sister, Venita Marie. Virgil is survived by his wife, Nancy Miller, Blue Mound, KS; his son, Jeffrey Keith Miller, Blue Mound, KS; his daughters, Kristen Lee Miller and Danielle Kay Miller, Blue Mound, KS; his parents, Keith and Venita Miller, Kincaid, KS; his brother, Jim Miller and wife, Jayne, Garnett; and his sisters, Nancy Ann McCullough and husband, Jim, Chilhowee, MO, and Marita Meech and husband, Jim, Fort Scott, KS. Ruby Juanita Sears was born April 25, 1924, at Gentry, AR, the daughter of Jesse A. and Hazel I. (VanFleet) Rook. She grew up in the Welda area and has lived in Garnett since her marriage. She was a homemaker and cared for infants for others in her home for a number of years. She was ‘Grandma’ to all the little ones she babysat. Juanita enjoyed going to the lake for weekend camping trips with family and friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and T.O.P.S. Juanita and Harold Sears were married June 27, 1946, at Garnett. Harold was known for his starched white shop caps and Juanita for the effort and care it took to make sure he looked his best when he went to work. Mrs. Sears was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Sears, in 1983; her parents, Jesse A. and Hazel I. Rook; two brothers, Elmer Rook and John F. Rook; and one sister, Marjorie Finkenbinder. Juanita is survived by her sons, Ronnie Sears and his wife, Linda, Garnett, and Randy Sears and his wife, Angie, Overland Park, KS; her grandchildren, Stephanie Smith, Waverly, KS, Jennifer Jones, Bellevue, NE, Hannah Sears, Overland Park, KS, and Brett Sears, Overland Park, KS; her great-grandchildren, Alex Jones, Bellevue, NE, Alyssa Jones, Bellevue, NE, and Gabrielle Smith, Waverly, KS; her sister, Lola Belle Adams, Mound City, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery. Mr. Hermreck died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam, KS. Eugene H. Hermreck was born March 2, 1927, at Greeley, KS, the son of Christopher and Catherine (Pickert) Hermreck. He grew up in the area of East Scipio School and attended school there. During World War II, he served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater. Eugene lived in Greeley, where he was a farmer/stockman and a pipefitter for Taylor Forge for many years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Plumbing and Pipefitter’s Local #763, and was a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 6887. Eugene and Florine Lickteig were married February 1, 1949, at Greeley. Mr. Hermreck was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Catherine Hermreck; a brother, Leonard Hermreck; and two sisters, Maureen Walsh and Joan Kramer. Eugene is survived by his wife, Florine Hermreck, of the home; his sons, Ronald Hermreck, Garnett, Timothy Hermreck, of the home, Edward Hermreck, Greeley, KS, and Alvin Hermreck, Greeley, KS; his daughters, Pauline Ekpo, Lawrence, KS, Louise Smith, Ottawa, KS, and Cynthia Hermreck, Lawrence, KS; his brothers, Omer Hermreck, Garnett, Henry Hermreck, Overland Park, KS, Norman Hermreck, Temecula, Ca, and Herbert Hermreck, Temecula, CA; his sisters, Rita Osler, Garnett, Florence Shields, Garnett, and Doris Smith, Burlington, WI; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
