Manspeaker, 58, Olathe, KS, were Saturday, September 14, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Colony, KS, with Pastor Steve Bubna officiating. Interment was in Colony Cemetery. Mrs. Manspeaker died Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at her home. Rebecca A. Manspeaker was born January 13, 1944, at Iola, KS, the daughter of Donald Albert and Edna K. (Morgan) Cleaver. She retired from Deluxe Check in Lenexa, KS, after working as a data processor there for thirty-three years. She had lived in the Olathe area since 1964. She was a member of the Deluxe Retirement Club and was an active member of Al-Anon. Music was provided by Lloyd Houk who sang and played “How Great Thou Art”. Recorded music was also used. Mrs. Manspeaker was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Albert and Edna K. Cleaver; and a sister, Nina Sonka. Rebecca is survived by her husband, Brian Rank; her son, Jeff Manspeaker and his wife, Debbie, Garnett; her sisters, Myrna Stackley, Owasso, OK, and Yvonne Goins, Colony, KS; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Sumners died Saturday, September 14, 2002, as the result of a construction accident in Ottawa, KS. Evan Ray Sumners was born October 15, 1984, at Paola, KS, the son of Laurence A. and Martha Gale (Croan) Sumners. He was currently a senior at Prairie View High School. His hobbies included fishing and repairing and riding bicycles. Evan was always willing to help others whenever he could. Mr. Sumners was preceded in death by a nephew, Tylor Sumners. Van Ostran officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901, Ottawa. Mr. Hermreck died Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Frederick J. Hermreck was born December 26, 1927, at Bush City, KS, the son of Fred William and Beulah P. (Eyman) Hermreck-Roeckers. He graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1945. He also completed several real estate courses at Kansas University, earning his certified residential specialist qualifications. He had lived in Lawrence since 1978, moving there from Osawatomie, where he had lived since 1971. Prior to that time, he moved to Ottawa in 1951 from the Garnett area, where he had lived for twenty years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Osawatomie, and was a former member of the American Legion Post in Lawrence and Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge. From 1952-1971, Fred was employed as a salesman at the Gambles Department Store in Ottawa. From 1971-1978, he was owner/operator of the Osawatomie Gambles Department Store, and from 1978 until his retirement in 1997, he was a realtor and broker associated with Hedges Real Estate of Lawrence, KS. He served in the United States Army from 1946-1948, being stationed in Maryland where he was a Sergeant in the motor pool and participated in many burial details. He later served in the United States Army from September, 1950, to December, 1951, as a Technical Sergeant as a high speed radio operator in Korea during the Korean War. Fred and Mildred ‘Mickey’ Finch were married April 16, 1949, at Ottawa, KS. Mr. Hermreck was preceded in death by his father, Fred William Hermreck. Fred is survived by his wife, Mildred ‘Mickey’ Hermreck, of the home; his mother and stepfather, Beulah P. (Eyman) Hermreck-Roeckers and Hubert Roeckers, Garnett; his children, Marsha Hermreck, Ottawa, KS, David Hermreck, Germantown, MD, and Michelle Gray, Ottawa, KS; his brother, Larry Hermreck, Vero Beach, FL; his sisters, Roberta Boyer, Lawrence, KS, and Barbara Burwell, Manhattan, KS; his stepbrothers, Richard Roeckers and Henry Roeckers, Garnett; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Hermreck, Ottawa, KS, Jordan Gray, Ottawa, KS, and Mark Hermreck, Germantown, MD.
