Interment was in Lane Cemetery, Franklin County, KS. Mrs. Miller died Sunday, September 15, 2002, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Nellie Marie Miller was born December 31, 1924, at Richmond, KS, the daughter of Eli and Mae (Alexander) Brockus. She attended rural school in the Martin School District. She had lived in Ottawa since 1970, moving there from Rantoul where she had lived for many years. She was a lifelong homemaker and after moving to Ottawa, she hung wallpaper for several years. Nellie was a member of Rantoul Community Presbyterian Church. Nellie and Ernest Alva Miller were married March 27, 1940, at Ottawa, KS. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Alva Miller, on November 2, 1994; her parents, Eli and Mae Brockus; her brothers, Clifford Brockus, Eldon Brockus, and Thomas Brockus; her sister, Martha Heckman; and three infant grandchildren. Nellie is survived by her son, Donald Miller, Ottawa, KS; her daughter, Carolyn Turley, Baldwin, KS; her grandchildren, Rocky Turley, Tony Miller, Rob Miller, Teresa Meyerkorth, Melody Chapman, and Tracy Englund; her great-grandchildren, Tara Boswell, Regan Boswell, Sara Meyerkorth, Jenna Meyerkorth, Mikael Englund, Brandon Englund, and Lucas Chapman; and her great-great-grandson, Colby McCurdy. The family received friends on Wednesday, September 18, 2002, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Rantoul Community Presbyterian Church. Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, was in charge of arrangements.” “Harold M. Spencer 1920-2002 Private graveside services for Harold M. Spencer, 81, Colorado Springs, CO, were Saturday, September 21, 2002, at the Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, with Rev. Douglas Brauner officiating. Mr. Spencer died Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at his home. Harold M. Spencer was born October 25, 1920, at Richmond, KS, the son of Roscoe and Mabelle (Weaver) Spencer. He was a 1938 graduate of Garnett High School, Garnett, KS, and then served four years in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a retired ranch manager. Harold and Juanita Jones were married July 12, 1947. Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Mabelle Spencer. Harold is survived by his wife, Juanita, Colorado Springs, CO; his son, Richard Spencer, Colorado Springs, CO; his daughter, Cynthia Johnson, Colorado Springs, CO; three granddaughters, three grandsons, and two great- grandsons.
