Gary Benjamin officiating. Military honors were by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901. Mr. Marks died Monday, September 30, 2002, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Eugene ‘Tim’ Marks was born September 16, 1915, in Lincoln Township, KS, the son of Williams Jennings Marks, Sr. and Mabel (Glasser) Marks. He spent his working years in Alaska, returning to Franklin County, KS, in 1972. He was a heavy equipment operator for thirty years and was a member of Alaska Teamster Union #959. From 1942-1944, he worked on the Alaska-Canada Highway. He also worked for the Sunflower Ammunition Plant, DeSoto, KS, and on the Alaskan Pipeline, retiring in 1972. After retirement, he moved to Kansas and farmed. Tim served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901, Ottawa, and Ottawa Lodge #803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Tim was united in marriage to Zelda Louise Veix in Lyndon, KS. Mr. Marks was preceded in death by his wife, Zelda Louise Marks on January 17, 2001; his parents, Williams Jennings Marks, Sr. and Mabel (Glasser) Marks; his brothers, William J. ‘Bill’ Marks, Louis Marks, and Robert Marks; and his sisters, Marie Hiehoff, Carrie Mason, Edna Dawson, and Ella Mae Whitty. Tim is survived by his sons, Timothy Marks, Ottawa, KS, and Marion ‘Red’ Marks, Anchorage, AL; his daughter, Julie Belser, Pomona, KS; his sister, Betty Sumner, Garnett; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to “Eugene ‘Tim’ Marks Memorial Fund”, to be designated later by the family, in care of the funeral home. Steve Van Ostran officiating. Committal services are at 1:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, KS. Mrs. Ewing died Saturday, October 12, 2002, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. Dengel and Son Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.” “Della K. (Cooper) Lindsay 1910-2002 Graveside services and interment for Della K. (Cooper) Lindsay, 92, Garnett, were Wednesday, October 9, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port, MO, with Pastor Rick Danforth officiating. Mrs. Lindsay died October 7, 2002, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Della K. (Cooper) Lindsay was born July 18, 1910, on a farm near Nishnabotna, MO, the daughter of Roy Herbert and Mary (Eilers) Wade. She was baptized as an infant in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Langdon, MO, and was confirmed in the First Lutheran Church in Rock Port, MO. Her early schooling was received in the Nishnabotna schools. Della and Olen E. Cooper were united in marriage on June 1, 1929. They became the parents of one son, Jimmy. They trucked, farmed, and operated a grocery store in the Nishnabotna community before moving to California in 1942. After returning to Missouri in 1958, they resided in Rock Port and Kansas City where Olen worked as a carpenter. In 1960, they moved to Garnett, KS. Olen passed away July 20, 1964. On October 20, 1965, Della was united in marriage to Carl Lindsay at the Dwight Lindsay home in Tarkio, MO. They made their home in Rock Port. For several years, Della was associated with the Stoner Drug Company in Rock Port. Carl passed away August 4, 1979. Della continued to reside in Rock Port until moving to Garnett to be near her family. Besides her parents, Roy and Mary Wade, and husbands, Olen and Carl, Mrs. Lindsay was preceded in death by an infant brother, Herbert Wade; brothers, Lee, Dee, and Richard Wade; and one sister, Bernita Dunlop. Della is survived by her son, Jimmy Cooper and daughter-in-law, June, Garnett; three grandchildren, Karen Rumble and husband, Brad, Gladstone, MO, Scott Cooper and wife, Terri, Garnett, and Jill Murray and husband, Matt, Olathe, KS; four great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters, Rachelle and Kenzie Rumble, Kelsey, Cameron, Katelin, and Carston Cooper, and Cooper and Gunnar Murray; three sisters, Lucille Knierim, Rock Port, MO, Darlene Fry and Leona Herman, Council Bluffs, IA; and one brother, Pat Wade, Honey Creek, IA. Casketbearers were Michael Holley, E.R. Dalrymple, Richard Lutz, Kenneth Bressler, David Horejsi, and Charles Knierim. Memorial contributions may be made to Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett.
