Gillespie 1921-2002 Funeral services for Dorothy B. Gillespie, 81, Parker, KS, were Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Elm Grove Cemetery, Cadmus, KS. Mrs. Gillespie died Saturday, November 16, 2002, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Dorothy B. Gillespie was born September 2, 1921, at LaCygne, KS, the daughter of Charley Walter and Marilla Z. (Carpenter) Ross. She was a homemaker and had lived in Parker since 1951. Dorothy was a former member of Parker Grange. Dorothy and Guy K. Gillespie were married July 14, 1946, at Kansas City, MO. Mrs. Gillespie was preceded in death by her parents, Charley Walter and Marilla Z. Ross; a sister, Doris Ross; and two brothers, Wilfred Ross and Dennis Ross. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Guy K. Gillespie; her sons, David K. Gillespie, Humboldt, KS, Don M. Gillespie, Lebo, KS, and Mike D. Gillespie, Parker, KS; her daughters, Lorna J. Holloway, Osawatomie, KS, and Karen K. McIlvain, Ottawa, KS; four brothers, Richard Ross, Colonial Heights, VA, Marvin Ross, Ottawa, KS, Ivan Ross, Basehor, KS, and Kenny Ross, Parker, KS; sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Laura Parks, organist, and Karen Gillespie, soloist. Musical selections included “On the Wings of a Dove”, “In the Garden” and “How Great Thou Art”. Casketbearers were Wayne Aden, Jeff Gillespie, Lee ‘Tuffy’ Hermreck, Kenny Chase, Mark Hendricks, Carson Maxwell. Honorary casketbearers were Aaron Gillespie, Cruz Gillespie, and Joshua Gillespie. The family received friends on Monday, November 18, 2002, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Cancer Foundation, 116 South Main, Ste. B., Ottawa, KS. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.” “John ‘Tommy’ Tyler 1933-2002 Memorial services for John ‘Tommy’ Tyler, 69, San Antonio, TX, formerly of Garnett, are Monday, November 25, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett, with Father George Matz officiating. Graveside inurnment services will follow at the Garnett Cemetery. Mr. Tyler died Wednesday, November 6, 2002, in San Antonio. John ‘Tommy’ Tyler was born September 22, 1933, in Garnett, the son of Miles and Velma Tyler. He was a 1951 graduate of Garnett High School. He served in both the United States Coast Guard and the United States Air Force. Mr. Tyler was preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Velma Tyler. Tommy is survived by his wife, Virginia; his five children, Tim, Anna, Rob, Chris and Jeanne Marie; his former wife of thirty-four years, Mary Lynne ‘Lynnie’ Tyler; seven grandchildren, Michael, Leanne, Jacob, Pierce, Austin, Nicholas, and Brenna; two sisters, Wilma and Norma; and one brother, Gene.
