Graveside services were held Sunday, November 24, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at Mound Creek Cemetery, rural Miami County. Vivian Colleen Kneibler was born March 21, 1931, in Independence, MO, the daughter of Charles Dewey and Flora Eva (Thomas) Holmes. She was one of four children born to this marriage. While growing up, she attended school in Coffeyville, KS, where the family had relocated. After high school, she enlisted in the United States Army (Women’s Army Corps) during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort McClellen in Alabama and Fort Lee in Virginia. Vivian was head of the Art Department. Most of Vivian’s life was spent in Kansas and Missouri. She did, however, live for a short time in Maryland and Baltimore. She attended UMKC and the Ursuline Academy for a time while living in the Miami County area. Vivian and Arthur William Kneibler were married in Florida and together they became the proud parents of three children, Sheera, Olivia, and Gabriel. She was a generous and caring woman. Vivian was a talented portrait artist and enjoyed playing the piano. Other interests to her were traveling, listening to classical music, and studying the government and politics of Israel and Hebrew. Mrs. Kneibler was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur William Kneibler; her parents, Charles Dewey and Flora Eva Holmes; one infant daughter, Carolyn; and one grandson, Dominic Arthur Hayes. Vivian leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Sheera Clark, Osawatomie, KS, Olivia Myers, Paola, KS, and Gabriel Kneibler, Garnett; one brother, Charles B. Holmes, Fort Lauderdale, FL; two sisters, Phyllis Johnson, Cleveland, MO, and Virginia Wilkinson, Topeka, KS; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two special friends, Jana Wicks and Wanda Mahoney; and a host of other family members and friends. The family received friends prior to the services at Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola, KS. Memorials may be made to the family, in care of the funeral home.
