George Matz and Tony Blafuss as concelebrants. Interment was in Holy Angels Cemetery. Mrs. Katzer died December 4, 2002, at her home. Elizabeth Katzer was born March 7, 1921, at Frankfort, KS, the daughter of Thomas C. and Minnie Stevens Clark. She grew up in Lillis, KS, graduated from Frankfort, KS, High School, and attended nursing school at Concordia, KS. Elizabeth and Leo Katzer were married March 21, 1942, at Phoenix, AZ. After their marriage, the couple lived in Louisiana, Kentucky, California, and Texas due to Leo’s military service. In 1945, the family moved to Greeley, KS, moving to the farm in 1948, where they lived until moving to Garnett in 1985. She was a member of Holy Angels Church, as well as a member and former president of the Altar Society. Elizabeth was a charter member and former president of the Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild, and was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was also a volunteer at the Holy Angels School Library. Her hobbies included quilting, cooking wild game, gardening, and canning. She loved horses and spending time with her family. Mrs. Katzer was preceded in death by two grandchildren; her parents, Thomas C. and Minnie Clark; and four brothers, Thomas Clark, Mark Clark, John Clark, and Paul Clark. Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Leo Katzer, Garnett; her sons, Bill Katzer and his wife, Sonie, Boulder, CO, Jim Katzer, Garnett, Jerry Katzer, DVM and his wife, Ronda, Creston, IA, Ben Katzer, Loveland, CO; and Ray Katzer and his wife, Tina, Hutchinson, KS; her daughters, JoAnne Platt and her husband, Gene, Roeland Park, KS, and LaNell Hager and her husband, Ron, Linn Creek, MO; her sisters, Mary Lieb, Onaga, KS, Louise Reust, Frankfort, KS, and Frances Hupp, Topeka, KS; nineteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and The Rockers Family, Elizabeth’s nieces and nephews, as vocalists. Musical selections included “On Eagle’s Wings”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Hail Mary”, “Gentle Woman”, and “Irish Eyes Are Smiling”. Casketbearers were her grandsons, David Platt, Ryan Platt, Chris Katzer, Michael Hager, Sean Platt, Tim Platt, Nathan Katzer, and Alex Katzer. Lectors were her granddaughters, Kate Kettler, Melissa Gatlin, Rachel Vogel, Jessica Katzer, and Stacey Oldfield. Servers were Elizabeth’s grandsons, Sam Katzer, Brian Katzer, and Nick Katzer. Gift Bearers were granddaughters, Becky Katzer, Sarah Katzer, and Jami Katzer. The family received friends on Friday, December 6, 2002, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels School, which may be left in care of the funeral home. Drybread, 57, Iola, KS, were Saturday, December 7, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at Highland Cemetery, Iola, with Rev. Jeff Cokely officiating. Mr. Drybread died Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at his home. Charles E. Drybread was born July 21, 1945, at Garnett, KS, the son of Tommy G. Drybread, Jr., and Ima Gene Christenson Drybread. He grew up at Moran, KS, and graduated from Moran High School in 1963. He served in the United States Coast Guard and later, in the United States Navy, retiring in 1989. He and his family moved to Iola, where he worked as a driver’s license examiner for the State of Kansas in the Iola and Fort Scott offices for ten years. He retired a year ago due to health problems. Charles and Francie Ornclas were married September 20, 1969, at Iola, KS. Mr. Drybread was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy G. and Ima Gene Drybread; and a brother, Harold Gene Drybread. Charles is survived by his wife, Francie Drybread, of the home; his sons, Aaron Drybread, Pittsburg, KS, and Lt. Adam Drybread and his wife, Kendra, Fort Riley, KS; his brother, Terry Drybread, Colony, KS, and Darrell Drybread, Topeka, KS; and four grandchildren, Shelby, Aiden, and Marissa Drybread and Ali Bryant. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association. Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, KS, was in charge of arrangements.” “Judi R. Wolfe 1962-2002 Graveside services and interment for Judi R. Wolfe, 40, Wichita, KS, formerly of Colony, KS, were Thursday, November 21, 2002, at the Colony Cemetery. Mrs. Wolfe died Saturday, November 16, 2002. Judi R. Wolfe was born March 4, 1962, the daughter of James and Katherine Hill, Colony, KS. She graduated from Colony High School in 1981 and attended Wichita State University. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Wolfe is survived by her husband, David Wolfe, Sr., Wichita, KS; her parents, James and Katherine Hill, Colony; two stepsons, Michael Wolfe and David Wolfe, Jr., both of Wichita; one stepdaughter, Teresa Armitage, Wichita; six brothers, J.R. Hill, Saudi Arabia, Jerry Hill and Jon Hill, both of Emporia, KS, Jay ‘Rick’ Hill, Knoxville, IL, Justin Hill, Wichita, and Randy Hill, Humboldt, KS, one sister, Janet Sexton, Shawnee, KS; and two step-grandchildren.
