Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, KS. Mrs. Rempel died Thursday, January 23, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Helen Dorothy Rempel was born December 29, 1926, in Franklin County, KS, the daughter of William Arthur and Hattie (Phinney) Shaffer. She attended Homewood and Williamsburg schools through the ninth grade. In her childhood, she attended the Baptist church. Helen lived in Ottawa most of her life, except thirty years while her husband worked on construction jobs. She was a member of the Homewood Friendly Club and the Williamsburg-Ottawa Conservation Club. Helen and William Kenneth Rempel were married on September 23, 1946, at Topeka, KS. Mrs. Rempel was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Rempel on March 5, 1998; her parents, William Arthur and Hattie Shaffer; her brother, William Shaffer, Jr.; and her sister, Georgia Fisher. Helen is survived by her brothers, Benjamin Shaffer, Great Bend, and Calvin Shaffer, Ottawa, KS; her sisters, Sarah Shaffer, Ottawa, KS, Florence Rees, Benton, IA, and Lois Blackburn, Richmond, KS; her sisters-in-law, Florence Shaffer, Great Bend, KS, and Dorothy Shaffer, Wellsville, KS: and her brother-in-law, Larry Rees, Benton, IA. The family received friends on Sunday, January 26, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ransom Memorial Hospital. Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, KS, was in charge of arrangements.” “D’Ron Jacob Finney 1992-2003 Funeral services for D’Ron Jacob Finney, 10, Greeley, KS, formerly of Kansas City, KS, are Friday, January 31, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, with Willard Ruch officiating. Private family interment is planned. D’Ron died January 26 at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, MO. D’Ron Jacob Finney was born Deron Antonio Jones in Kansas City, KS. He moved to Greeley in 1998 and was adopted by Jim and Jackie Finney. D’Ron was a student at Lakemary Center in Paola, KS, where he attended a class for the medically fragile with his sister, Alisha, and his brother, Jalani. D’Ron is survived by his parents, Jim and Jackie Finney, Greeley; six brothers and four sisters, both biological and adopted. The family will greet friends at 1:30 p.m. on Friday before the service.
