Connie Woolridge officiating. Interment was in Welda Cemetery. Mr. Adams died Friday, February 14, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." "Frances L. Ecord 1917-2003 Funeral services for Frances L. Ecord, 85, Pomona, KS, were Thursday, February 13, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, KS, with Pastor Terry Sue Willford, officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Mrs. Ecord died Monday, February 10, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Frances L. Ecord was born June 4, 1917, at Garnett, the daughter of William Thomas and Emma Frances (Donaldson) Tinsley. She grew up east of Welda, KS, and moved to Franklin County in 1954. She attended schools in Anderson County. Frances worked as a seamstress at Mode O'Day in Ottawa for twenty years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Richter United Methodist Church and the quilting circle. Frances and Louis Ecord were married December 12, 1935, at Erie, KS. Mrs. Ecord was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Ecord, on July 30, 1992; her daughter, Jessie Lickteig; her grandsons, Terry Lee Mace and David Lee Ecord; her parents, William Thomas and Emma Frances Tinsley; and her brothers, Thomas Ira Tinsley, James Oliver Tinsley, and Robert William Tinsley. Frances is survived by her daughters, Joan Geer, Garnett, Eva Stone, Williamsburg, KS, Lois Ecord, Topeka, KS, Jean Rossman, Pomona, KS, Ruth Trendel, Pomona, KS, and Pattie Fine, Pomona, KS; her sons, Richard Ecord, Pomona, KS, and Ron Ecord, Monte Vista, CO; twenty-nine grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren. The family received friends on Wednesday, February 12, from 8:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home. 'Sandy' Lankard, 74, Garnett, were Monday, February 17, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, Garnett, with Pastor Mark Webb officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mr. Lankard died Thursday, February 13, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Edwin D. Lankard was born October 5, 1928, at Harris, KS, the son of Walter and Edna (Kelley) Lankard. He grew up in Garnett and was a lifetime resident of the area. As a child, he attended Iantha Grade School, later graduating from Garnett High School in 1946. Following high school, he farmed and raised cattle near Garnett. Sandy was a member of the Polled Hereford Association. Most recently, he and Gladys operated Lankard Feed Store for ten years, prior to his retirement. He loved fishing and gardening. Sandy and Gladys Hirt were married July 22, 1951, at Harris, KS. Mr. Lankard was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Dale Lankard, on January 26, 1962; his parents, Walter and Edna Lankard; his brother Keith Lankard; and his sisters, Wilma Lankard, an infant, and Eula Ten Eyck. Sandy is survived by his wife, Gladys Lankard, of the home; his daughters, Marilyn Lankard and Rick Aitken, Olathe, KS, Sandra Kueser and her husband, Dale, Richmond, KS, Katherine Lyon, Richmond KS, and Connie Martin and her husband Terry, Shawnee, KS; his granddaughters, Sarah Kueser, Amy Kueser, Kelly Kueser, Kelsey Lyon, Amanda Patterson, and Kristin Martin; his sister Norma Highberger; his sister-in-law, Lorretta Lankard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Music was provided by Doris Wilson, pianist, and Pam Ahring, soloist. Musical selections included 'How Great Thou Art', 'Daddy's Hands' by Red Sovine, and 'When I Take My Vacation In Heaven' by Johnny Cash. Casketbearers were Dave Brummel, Brownie Hermreck, Bill Valentine, Rene Bures, Ross Porter, and Bill Young. Honorary casketbearers were Bob Ahring, Henry Doering, Terry Hirt, Orville Cole, Rick Feuerborn, Don Lankard, and Duane Lankard. The family received friends after a prayer service on Sunday, February 16, at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements."
