Mr. Sprague died Monday, March 17, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Bruce Alton Sprague was born December 2, 1949, at Iola, KS, the son of Wilbur C. and LaJune (Davis) Sprague. He served with the United States Army 173rd Airborne Rangers in Vietnam and was the recipient of the Purple Heart, three clusters, and the Silver Star. He was a member of the North American Hunters. Bruce and Linda Stevens were married in 1981 at Manning, OR. Mr. Sprague is survived by his wife, Linda Sprague, Mapleton, KS; his father, Wilbur Sprague, Walnut Creek, CA; his mother, LaJune Kitelinger, Yakima, WA; two step-daughters, Carla Church, Xenia, KS, and Robbie Davis, Lodi, CA; one brother, Damon Sprague, Yakima, WA; three sisters, Linda Decio, Portland, OR, Carmen Heilman, Yakima, WA, and Terry Sprague, Bozeman, MT; and six grandchildren, Kayla, Britney, Savannah, Erika, Tyler, and Billy, who have been living with him and helping to run the farm. Mrs. Hannah died Monday, March 24, at her home. Sharon Joanne Hannah was born August 22, 1931, at Bartlesville, OK, the daughter of Edward F. and Cleo L. (Truskett) Fitzpatrick. She attended Kansas City area schools, graduating from Shawnee Mission High School in 1949, the University of Kansas in 1953, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, and from Kansas State University in 1978, receiving a Master of Science degree in Learning Disabilities. She had a varied career over her lifetime, teaching in public schools in Montgomery, AL, and Lawrence and Topeka, KS; running a family owned retail business; serving as an Intake Counselor for Displaced Homemakers; as Circulation Director of ‘The Wichitan’ magazine in Wichita, KS; and as House Director for Alpha Omicron Pi sorority at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She was also Precinct Committeewoman; on the board of Directors of the Kaw Valley Girl Scout Council; a Girl Scout leader for eight years; Secretary of Phi Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega House Corporation; and PTA president for both Randolph and Whitson Elementary Schools in Topeka. Mrs. Hannah was preceded in death by her parents, Edward F. and Cleo L. Fitzpatrick. Sharon is survived by her son, Jerry W. Hannah, Boulder, CO; her daughter, Kathleen Waugh, Singapore; and her grandchildren, Erin Waugh, Vail, CO, Chris Waugh, London, England, Megan Waugh, Singapore, and Ashley and Elizabeth Hannah, Atlanta, GA. Music was provided by Scott Schulte, soloist, who sang ‘Always’ and ‘Dream’. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice Care in Douglas County, 200 Maine, Suite D, Lawrence, KS 66044, which may be sent directly to the hospice, or left in care of the funeral home.
