Interment will be in Cadmus Cemetery, Cadmus, KS. Mrs. White died Tuesday, April 29, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Velma Fay white was born February 13, 1908, in Montgomery County, KS, the daughter of Osee Albert and Dora Janette (Stroud) Blakemore. She grew up in Montgomery County, near Wayside and Havanna, KS, moving to the Parker area in 1926. She moved to Garnett in 1979, living there until moving to live with her daughter in Parker in 1993. She entered the nursing home in 1998. Velma was a member of Parker United Methodist Church and the Parker Home Demonstration United Grange that met at Sullivan School. She was a homemaker. Velma and Ernest White were married May 21, 1924, at Sedan, KS. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, on July 4, 1979; her parents, Osee and Dora Blakemore; three grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters. Velma is survived by her son, Carl White and his wife, Jean, Parker, KS; her daughters, Osee Riggs and her husband, John, Parker, KS, Alice Frear and her husband, Carl, Princeton, KS, and Doris Satchell, Parker, KS; her brother, Cleo Blakemore and his wife, Clara Belle, Wichita, KS; her sister, Lola Hubler and her husband, Bill, Independence; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 2, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Research Center. Mrs. Grimes died April 25 at Anderson County Hospital. Audra K. Grimes was born November 3, 1923, at St. James, AR, the daughter of Sylvanna ‘Connie’ Younger. She moved from Arkansas to Harris, KS, on December 28, 1949. She worked at Anderson County Hospital for twenty-seven years, working in several departments before becoming a nurse’s aide. She retired in 1985. Audra was a member of the First Christian Church, Garnett. Audra and Bud A. Grimes were married February 16, 1940, at Pleasant Grove, AR. Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, on February 11, 1996; her mother, Sylvanna Younger; and five brothers. Audra is survived by her children, Ronnie Grimes and his wife, Oneda, Judy Tisor and her husband, Ray, and Peggy Brubaker and her husband, Marlin, all of Garnett; her grandchildren, Marvin Grimes, Eugene Grimes, Troy Brubaker, Anita Vernon, Jo Ann Stites, Diane Lacy, and Traci Flora; eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her sister, Bernice Ginn, Mountainview, AR. Mr. Green died Friday, April 25, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Charles Henry Green was born April 30, 1920, at Zanesville, OH, the son of Hattie Burtoft. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, spending twenty-six months at sea without porting. Charles was a sales representative for a paint company. He was a member of the American Legion, veterans of Foreign Wars, and Woodmen of the World. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Burtoft. Charles is survived by the loving Skipp family: Shirley Skipp, Linda, Bob, and Leigh Ann Kirkeeide, Kimberly and Jojit Coronel, Maureen and Keith, Ben, John, and Luke Harvey, Becky and Michael Ruwe, and John Melanie and Mykel Skipp and Marian E. Hermreck was born December 4, 1929, at Garnett, KS, the son of Louis J. and Hazel (Stevens) Hermreck. He spent most of his life in Anderson County, except for a few years when he lived in California and Iowa. He was self-employed as a logger and worked for Taylor Forge in Paola, KS, for several years. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force. Louis was married to Velma Croan. Mr. Hermreck was preceded in death by his wife, Velma; his father, Louis J. Hermreck; two brothers, Charles and Gene Hermreck; one sister, Betty Hermreck; and his grandson, Brian Hermreck. Jack is survived by his sons, Jim Hermreck, Vernon Hermreck, Carl Hermreck, and Randy Hermreck, all of Garnett; his daughters, Debi Kratzberg, Garnett, and Tammy Hermreck, Bush City; his mother, Hazel Crouch, Garnett; his brother, Bill Hermreck, Liberty, MO; his sisters, Judy Davis, Linda Reed, and Shirley Crouch, all of Garnett; and eight grandchildren.
