Mr. Logan died Tuesday, May 20, at Village West, Ottawa, KS. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 21, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to Midland Hospice, Village West, or the Evan Sumners Activity Center. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.” “Nina Mae Doering 1912-2003 Funeral services for Nina Mae Doering, 90, Garnett, were Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist church with Rev. Gale E. Mack officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Doering died Friday, May 16, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Nina Mae Doering was born May 18, 1912, at Garnett, the daughter of James and Isola (Dickson) Frankenberger. She spent her entire life on the farm where she was born and that had been in her family since the late 1800’s. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Lincoln Chapel Circle, the Ruth Club, Farm Bureau, and was a local correspondent for the newspaper in years past. She was a farmer and homemaker. Nina Mae and Leonard C. Doering were married December 8, 1932, at Garnett. She and her husband raised cattle for more than fifty years and ran a successful egg business in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Mrs. Doering was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her son, Donald R. Doering; and her parents, Jhames and Isola Frankenberger. Nina Mae is survived by her sons, James L. Doering and his wife, Susan, Pacific, MO, and David L. Doering, St. Louis, MO; her grandson, Kevin E. Doering, Union, MO; her granddaughters, Susan L. Rulon, Pacific, MO, and Julie A. Jackson, Pacific, MO; and four great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Laura Parks, organist, and Richard Parks, vocalist. Musical selections included ‘Will There Be Any Stars In My Crown?’ and ‘Take My Hand, Precious Lord”. Casketbearers were Ray Arnett, Clayton Collins, Tim Collins, Chris Fink, Dale Hastert, and Dennis Hastert. The family received friends on Monday, May 19, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and left in care of the funeral home. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Verne Keith Ross 1924-2003 Funeral services for Verne Keith Ross, 79, rural Kincaid, KS, were Monday, May 19, 2003, at Johnson-Kunkel Mortuary, Moran, KS, with Rev. Connie Cox officiating. Interment and military honors were in North Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, KS. Mr. Ross died Friday, May 16, at his home. Verne Keith Ross was born January 28, 1924, in rural Bronson, KS, the son of Jesse and Bessie (Whittington) Ross. He was raised in the Bronson and Mildred Areas. He attended Glendale Grade School and graduated from Mildred High School with the Class of 1941. Verne served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was wounded in France and spent many months recovering. After the war, he returned home to the family farm. He was a lifelong farmer and loved being on the farm. Verne still found a little time to pitch a few horseshoes and to play a few hands of cards. He was a member of the Kincaid V.F.W. and the Kincaid Fair Association. His friends and his neighbors were very special to him. Verne and Leora Bruner were married July 6, 1949. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Bessie Ross; and his brother, M.K. ‘Kenneth’ Ross. Verne is survived by his beloved wife, Leora, of the home; his daughter, Wanda Carleen Brooks, Iola, KS: his sister, Wilma Ward, Osawatomie, KS; and nieces and nephews. The family received friends on Sunday, May 18, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.
