Sander 1921-2003 Memorial services for Charles C. Sander, 82, Garnett, were Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at 5:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Mr. Sander died Sunday, May 25, at Arkhaven Assisted Living Center, Garnett. Charles C. Sander was born May 15, 1921, at Felton, MN, the son of Carl and Elanor Frances (Betts) Sander. He was a rancher, having lived and worked in Arizona, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. He had lived in Garnett since 1990. Mr. Sander was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the N.R.A., and also was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. Charles and Catherine Wood were married December 6, 1954. Mr. Sander was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; and his parents, Carl and Elanor Sander. Charles is survived by his daughter, Linda Hughes and her husband, Bill, Garnett; his granddaughter, Whitney Hughes, Garnett; his brother, Merton Sander, Carlton, MN; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family greeted friends following the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Arkhaven Assisted Living Center or Allen County Hospice. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Thelma E. Hamilton 1920-2003 Funeral services for Thelma E. Hamilton, 82, Richmond, KS, were Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, KS. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin County. Mrs. Hamilton died Sunday, May 26, at Richmond Care Center, Richmond. Thelma E. Hamilton was born June 20, 1920, at Wright, KS, the daughter of William James and Lizzie Iona (Camp) Reekie. She grew up and lived in the Wright and Dodge City area, moving to Pomona in 1938 and to Princeton in 1954. She attended rural elementary schools and Dodge City High School. Thelma worked as a meat wrapper at Zero Meat Lockers, and as a clerk at Litwin’s, both in Ottawa; at Bennie Stinson’s Locker for three years, until 1978, at John Hess Grocery in Waverly until 1985, and at J & J Supply in Princeton until retiring in 1987. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Franklin County. Thelma and Russell E. ‘Gene’ Hamilton were married December 23, 1939, at Ottawa. Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her husband, Russell ‘Gene’ E. Hamilton on April 13, 1989; her parents, William and Lizzie Reekie; her sisters, Roberta Faye Knight and Ruby Hamilton; her brothers, Harold Reekie, Wilbur Reekie, Gerald ‘Jim’ Reekie, and Larry Earl Reekie; and her grandson, Michael McDaniel Thomas. Thelma is survived by her daughters, Joyce Marie Hahn, Princeton, KS, and Jeanie McDaniel, Bellevista, AR; her son, Kenneth LeRoy Hamilton, Gwinn, MI; her brother, William M. Reekie, Osawatomie, KS; her sisters, Iona Fern Olsen, Richmond, KS, and Carol Jean Richardson, Garnett; her grandchildren, Darin Bitts, Jeral A. Hahn, Crystal Sherman, Russell Thomas, Bonita Downing, Angela Solomson, Michelle Hamilton, and Kendra Peterson; seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. The family received friends on Tuesday, May 27, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or Richmond Care Center.
