Bunnel 1928-2003 Funeral services for Alfred M. Bunnel, 74, Welda, KS, are Friday, June 6, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Colony, KS, with Pastor Steve Bubna officiating. Interment with military graveside honors is in Colony Cemetery. Mr. Bunnel died Monday, June 2, at his home. Alfred M. Bunnel was born November 9, 1928, at Colony, KS, the son of George Herbert and Clara Louise (Robbins) Bunnel. He was a lifetime resident of the Colony/Welda area where he was a farmer and stockman. He graduated from Colony High School with the Class of 1946. Alfred served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was active in 4-H with his children and served on the Fair Board and Extension Council, and was a member of Farm Bureau. Alfred and Charlotte Crawford were married April 24, 1952, at Iola, KS. Mr. Bunnel was preceded in death by an infant son, Donnie Bunnel; and his parents, George and Clara Bunnel. Alfred is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of the home; his sons, Rick Bunnel, Randy Bunnel and his wife, Betsy, Russell Bunnel and his wife, Margie, all of Welda, KS, and Tom Bunnel, Ottawa, KS; his grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, Eric, Kelli, and Dena; his brother, Ralph Bunnel, Colony, KS; and his sisters, Helen Luedke, Troy, KS, and Georgia Lohr, Ottawa, KS. Music was be provided by Kloma Buckle, pianist, and Dan Neuenswander, soloist. Musical selections included ‘Just Beyond The Moon’. Casketbearers are Josh Bunnel, Eric Bunnel, George Bunnel, Ed Bunnel, David Steinbrook, and Rick Ellis. Honorary casketbearers are Clyde Boots, Weldon Goodell, Ralph Babcock, Cecil Powell, Bill Brecheisen, Bob Barnett, and Kenneth Miller. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 5, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Colony. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson County 4-H Memorial Scholarship Fund. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.” “Thomas Ray Martin 1945-2003 Funeral services for Thomas Ray Martin, 57, Topeka, KS, were Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel, Topeka. Mr. Martin died Saturday, May 31, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. Thomas Ray Martin was born June 5, 1945, in Topeka, the son of Willis E. and Betty L. (Williams) Martin. He grew up in Tecumseh and graduated from ShawneeHeights High School with the Class of 1963. He was a distinguished veteran of the United States Armed Forces. Tom was a truck driver for Fleming Foods in Topeka for more than thirty years, and had been a truck driver for ABF in Kansas City for the past nine years. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 1, Topeka, and the Teamsters Union. He was former president of SCABA in Topeka, and was the coach of the Pistols Little League baseball team for ten years. He was instrumental in developing the Instructional League for five-and-six-year-olds at SCABA. Tom and Betty Benefiel were married June 5, 1971, in Garnett. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his mother, Betty L. Martin, in 1999. Tom is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; his sons, Jeffrey Martin, Lansing, KS, and Dr. Patrick Martin, San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Zachery, Nathan, and Elizabeth; his father, Willis ‘Bill’ Martin, Sun City, AZ; and his brother, Tony Martin, Sun City, AZ. The family received friends on Tuesday, June 3, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
