Hill 1924-2003 Graveside services and interment for Viola A. Hill, 78, Garnett, were Saturday, June 14, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Garnett Cemetery with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Mrs. Hill died Wednesday, June 11, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care, following a lengthy illness. Viola A. Hill was born October 7, 1924, at Kincaid, KS, the daughter of Forman Frank ‘Jack’ and Neva Mary (Miller) Huggins. She attended the local elementary school, graduating from Kincaid High School. Viola earned a teaching certificate from Pittsburg State University and taught at various country schools for several years. On April 5, 1946, Viola and Paul Hill, Garnett, were married at Ottawa, KS, in Tauy Hall on the Ottawa University campus. They made their home in rural Garnett. Viola and Paul had two daughters, Sharon Bauer, Gas, KS, and Anita Jackson, Wichita, KS. Viola kept books for Hill and Son TV and Refrigeration Repair. She also worked as bookkeeper for Stockebrand Motors, and later purchased and operated the Hobby Shop in Garnett until the death of her husband. She and daughter, Anita, then moved to Gas, KS. She worked in various positions in the Iola area before moving to Wichita, where she worked as a clerk in the Wichita Police Department until retiring in 1990. Following her retirement, she returned to Gas and lived near her daughter, Sharon, until health conditions required full time nursing care. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hill; her parents, Jack and Neva Huggins; and her brother, Forman. Viola is survived by her daughter, Sharon Bauer and her husband, Don; grandson Jeff Bauer and his wife, Cherri; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Tasha, and Kaitlyn Bauer; granddaughter, Robyn Koester and her husband, Bill; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kristyn Koester, all of Gas, KS; daughter, Anita Jackson; granddaughters, Pamela and Nicole; and great-grandson, Christian Jackson, all of Wichita; her sisters, Doris Hill, Kodiak, AR, and Fern Wolken, Garnett; her brother, Leo Huggins, Kennesaw, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Musical selections included ‘Go Rest High On That Mountain’. Casketbearers were Adam Crowner, Preston Frazell, Lonnie Sprague, Mark Flaherty, Roger Hill, and Scott Young. The family received friends on Saturday, June 14, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett. The family requests donations to Midland Hospice Care in lieu of flowers. Donations may be left at the funeral home. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Gerald Robert Hunt, Sr. 1947-2003 Gerald Robert Hunt, Sr. 56, a veteran of the United States Navy, died of cancer, Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at his home in Choteau, MT. His funeral was Tuesday, May 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Gorder Funeral Home in Choteau, followed by interment with military honors at Choteau Cemetery. Gerald Robert Hunt, Sr. was born March 20, 1947, in Osawatomie, KS, the son of Lester and Edna (Weiland) Hunt. He graduated from Greeley High School with the Class of 1965 and entered the United States Navy shortly thereafter. He served from January 1966, to October 1986. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, and hunting. Gerald and Sharon Hoyt were married March 13, 1982, at Newport News, VA. Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Edna Hunt; his sister, Donna; and his brother, Kenneth. Gerald is survived by his wife, Sharon, Choteau, MT; his sons, Gerald Hunt, Jr., Daniel Hunt, and Lester Hunt; his sister, Verna Gatlin, Paola, KS: his brother, Larry Hunt, Borger, TX; and four grandchildren. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, or to the Peace #477 Hospice of Montana.
