Dieker 1917-2003 Mass of Christian Burial for Clarence C. Dieker, 86, Garnett, was Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Tony Blaufuss as celebrant. Interment was in St. Teresa Cemetery, Westphalia, KS. Mr. Dieker died Friday, July 11, at Life Care Center, Burlington, KS. Clarence C. Dieker was born February 5, 1917, at Westphalia, KS, the son of Clement and Helena (Weber) Dieker. He graduated from Westphalia High School in 1934 and farmed in the Westphalia area. He owned the Phillips 66 station in Westphalia and drove a tank wagon for ten years. He moved to Garnett in 1980 and drove a school bus in Garnett for ten years. Clarence was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Westphalia and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett. Clarence and Marie Frisch were married February 5, 1940, at Westphalia. Three children were born to this union. Mr. Dieker was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Helen Dieker; a great-grandchild, Matthew Wolever; four brothers and one sister. Clarence is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Marie, Garnett; his sons, Glenn Dieker and his wife, Erma, Lawrence, KS, and Jerry Dieker and his wife, Loretta, Lancaster, PA; his daughter, Dorothy Rolf and her husband, Carl, Sheldon, IA; his brother, Bernard Dieker, Ulysses, KS; his sister, Ann Michael, Colony, KS; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Laura Parks, organist, and Scott Schulte, vocalist. Musical selections included ‘How Great Thou Art’, ‘The Lord’s Prayer’, ‘Amazing Grace’, and ‘One Day At A Time’. Casketbearers were Karen Cronin, Ronda Dieker, Steve Dieker, Kelly Dieker, Scott Dieker, Brian Rolf, and Jason Rolf. Rosary was said on Monday, July 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends afterwards. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Holy Angels Building Fund or St. Teresa Church, which may be left in care of the funeral home. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Dr. Marian L. Brockway 1912-2003 Dr. Marian L. Brockway, 91, Ottawa, KS, died at her home on Thursday, July 10, 2003. No services are scheduled. Marian L. Brockway was born June 7, 1912, at Olathe, KS, the daughter of Samuel Maurice and Luella (Parker) Brockway. She graduated from Topeka High School with the Class of 1930 and from Washburn University in Topeka with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She served in the United States Army stateside during World War II as a physical therapist, attaining the rank of Second Lieutenant. Following her service in the Army, Marian obtained her chiropractic degree in Wichita. She had a private chiropractic practice in Lawrence for thirty-three years. In 1985, she began practicing in Ottawa, retiring in 1990. Dr. Brockway was a member of the Congregational Church in Lawrence and attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa. Dr. Brockway was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Maurice and Luella Brockway; her sister, Emmalyn E. Becker; her infant sister, Ruth Brockway; and her brothers, H. Austin Brockway, Stanley H. Brockway, Parker W. Brockway, and her twin brother, S. Martin Brockway. Marian is survived by her sister-in-law, Johnnie Brockway, Ottawa, KS. Falconer 1906-2003 Funeral services for Helen M. Falconer, 96, Garnett, were Thursday, July 10, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Falconer died Sunday, July 6, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Helen M. Falconer was born August 12, 1906, at Syracuse, KS, the daughter of Archibald and Viola (Painter) MacFarlane. She had lived in Garnett since 1938 except for a few years when she lived in Arizona. She was a homemaker. Helen had been a member of the Garnett VFW Auxiliary for more than fifty years and was past Worthy Matron of Delphian Chapter #309, Order of the Eastern Star. Helen and Guy L. Falconer were married November 1, 1930. Mrs. Falconer was preceded in death by her husband, Guy, on May 6, 1973; and one granddaughter. Helen is survived by her daughter, JoAnne White, Houston, TX; four grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Bill Craig, vocalist. Musical selections included ‘The Lord’s Prayer’, and ‘In The Garden’. Casketbearers were Francis Drum, Joe Humbert, Ralph Tilton, Clarence Herman, Richard Roeckers, Bill Young, and Bob Young. Honorary casketbearers were Stanley Bell, Jim Manspeaker, Ray Meyer, Harold Herman, Bob McDaniel, and Bud White. The family received friends on Wednesday, July 9, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Delphian Chapter #309, Order of the Eastern Star or the Garnett VFW. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Ila Hase 1912-2003 Graveside services and interment for Ila Hase, 90, Parsons, KS, formerly of Richmond, KS, were Friday, July 11, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, KS, with Pastor Duane Pedrow officiating. Mrs. Hase died Tuesday, July 8, at her home. Ila Hase was born December 11, 1912, at Pomona, KS, the daughter of William V. and Rosa M. (McFadden) Brubaker. She was a longtime Franklin County, KS, resident, living in Richmond from 1932-1993. She moved to Stillwater, OK, in 1993, and to Parsons in 2001. She was a lifelong homemaker. Ila also worked for Mode O’Day and H.D. Lee, both in Ottawa, in the 1950’s and early 1960’s. She was a member of Homemakers Extension Unit and Daughters of the American Revolution, both of Richmond. Ila and William Albert Hase were married September 8, 1931, at Olathe, KS. Mrs. Hase was preceded in death by her husband, William Albert Hase, on July 31, 1990; her parents, William V. and Rosa M. Brubaker; her daughter, Willene Eckhardt; her brothers, Roy Evans and Clark Brubaker; her sisters, Gladys Hodges, Doris Brubaker, Alta Brubaker, Eula Brubaker, Vista Filkins, and Wilma Long; and her great-grandson, Adam Bartlett. Ila is survived by her daughters, Ilene Streeter, Parson, KS, Bonnie Hess, Altamont, KS, and Connie Bunney, Parsons, KS; her brothers, Lyle Brubaker and O.D. Brubaker, both of Lawrence, KS; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
