Interment was in Ruhamah Cemetery. Earl Kenneth Pennington was born August 15, 1924, at Kansas City, KS, the son of Pless and Clora Bell (Jones) Pennington. He grew up in Douglass, KS, moving to Kansas City, MO, in 1942. From there, he moved to South Dakota in 1944, to Wagstaff in 1946, and to Rantoul in 1948. Earl attended schools in Stilwell, KS. Earl was a lifelong farmer and also worked in assembly from 1942-1944 at ABC Butler Company, and from 1946-1948 for General Motors. He served as Postmaster at Rantoul for twenty years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Ruhamah Baptist Church, and was a former member of Ironworkers Union #10. He served six years as chairman of Franklin County Rural Water District Rt. 6. He was a former mason of Lane Lodge #339 A.F. & A.M., and was a former member of the International Order of Oddfellows of Lane, KS. Earl and Helen Boslaugh were married February 28, 1942, at Spring Hill, KS. Mr. Pennington was preceded in death by his parents, Pless and Clora Bell Pennington; his sisters, Julia Mae Pennington, Mildred Bell Pennington, Bernice Hazel Armstrong, Marie Clora Maupin, and Georgia Ellen Pennington; his brothers, Pless William Pennington, Alfred Newton Pennington, Marshall Lee Pennington, and Samuel Pennington; his granddaughter, Marsha Kay Kern; and his great-grandson, Willie Clissold. Earl is survived by his wife, Helen Pennington, Rantoul, KS; his daughters, Judy Pennington and Janice Kern, both of Rantoul, KS; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and several step-grandchildren. The family received friends on Tuesday, July 29, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ruhamah Baptist Church and left in care of the funeral home. Dengel and Son Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.” “Frank Henry Krause 1931-2003 Graveside services and interment for Frank Henry Krause, 71, Centerville, KS, were Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Centerville Cemetery with Rev. Kurt Rutz officiating. Mr. Krause died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Anderson County Hospital, Garnett. Frank Henry Krause was born November 27, 1931, at Osawatomie, KS, one of four children born to Frank Conrad and Ella Dora (Jewett) Krause. He grew up in Osawatomie and attended the local schools. He began working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad with the bridge gang. While working in Eads, CO, he met May Louise Morton. They were married in Eads on June 26, 1955. During their first three years of marriage they moved many times. They moved to Osawatomie in 1958 to make their home and raise their six children. He continued working for the railroad and became a Carmen. He worked for the Rock Island and then the Santa Fe. He retired in 1990. Soon after the children were raised and through school, Frank and May moved from Osawatomie to their farm near Centerville. He loved his family, the faming life and cattle, and railroading, including model trains. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Transportation and Communications International Union. Mr. Krause was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ella Krause; and one brother. Frank is survived by his wife, May, of the home; his six children, Terry Krause, Pittsburg, KS, Glen Krause, Emporia, KS, Virginia Coleman and Kathryn Krause, both of Olathe, KS, and Karla Homrighausen and Maria Prothe, both of Paola, KS; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Jean Davis, Parker, KS, and Naomi Caroline White, Nancy, KY; other relatives and friends. The family received friends on Monday, July 28, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Kincaid Cemetery, Kincaid, KS. Mr. Carr died Saturday, July 26, at Cherryvale Care Center, Cherryvale, KS. John Jackson Carr was born January 29, 1913, at Van Buren, AR, the son of Joseph May and Mary Catherin (Henson) Carr. He grew up in Arkansas, moving to Kansas in 1929, living in the Selma area until moving to Bush City in 1946. Jack moved to Garnett in 1996 before going to the Cherryvale Care Center in 2002. Jack and Ethel A. Smethers were married October 6, 1934, at Selma, KS. Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, on March 31, 2003, his daughter, Carolyn Kelsey; his parents, Joseph and Mary Carr; and twelve brothers and sisters. Jack is survived by his sons, Elwyn Carr and his wife, Mary, Cherryvale, KS, and J.D. Carr and his wife, Donna, Garnett; his daughters, Charlotte Roberts and her husband, Earl, Greeley, KS, and Cheryl Crump and her husband, James, Hermantown, MN; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Scott Theis, guitarist and soloist. Musical selections included ‘Lead Me, Lord’ and ‘Like A Shepherd’. Casketbearers were Dan Carr, Terry Carr, Danny Roberts, David Carr, John Mains, and Randy Roberts. The family greeted friends on Monday, July 28, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “William Robert Reynolds, Sr. 1924-2003 “A Celebration of Life ceremony for William Robert Reynolds, Sr., 78, El Dorado, KS, was Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at the Riverview Park on the east side of El Dorado on the Walnut River. Mr. Reynolds died Saturday evening, July 26, at an El Dorado nursing home. William Robert Reynolds, Sr. was born November 1, 1924, in El Dorado, KS, the son of Lee and Hazel (Hollaway) Reynolds. He grew up in El Dorado and had lived all of his life there. While attending high school, World War II broke out and he left school to join the Navy. William served his country with honor with the United States Navy in the submarine fleet. He served on three submarines, but mainly on the U.S.S. Tambor in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he returned to El Dorado and completed his high school education and attended one year at El Dorado Junior College. He worked for Getty and Skelly refinery as a coke unit operator. William was a member of the V.F.W. Fred Priestly Post #1174, the American Legion Captain Edgar Dale Post #81, and the World War II Submarine Veterans. He loved to spend his pastime doing crossword puzzles, reading, and jogging. Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Hazel Reynolds; his daughter, Roberta Reynolds; and his sister, Dorothy Wegley. William is survived by his wife, Helen Reynolds, El Dorado, KS; his sons, Vincent Reynolds and his wife, Shella, Kent, WA, and William Reynolds, Jr., Wichita, KS; his daughter, Dianna Rogers and her husband, James, Wichita, KS; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with Starkey, Inc., a service provider for mentally retarded children in Sedgwick County.
