Miss Lloyd died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Village Manor Nursing Home, Ottawa. Eleanor Moyer Lloyd was born August 23, 1903, at Princeton, KS, the daughter of Albert Martin and Cora Mabel (Moyer) Lloyd. She was a lifelong Franklin County resident, moving into Ottawa in 1930. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the Class of 1922 and from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, KS. Eleanor taught seven years in Franklin County rural schools, thirty-nine years as a second grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, and one year at Sacred Heart Catholic School, retiring in 1970. Eleanor was a member and past president of Ottawa Business and Professional Women’s Club, Happy Homemakers, Extension Homemakers Unit, Retired Teachers-both state and local, Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Four Seasons Garden Club, First United Methodist Church, and Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, all of Ottawa. Miss Lloyd was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Martin and Cora Mabel Lloyd; her brother, Ray M. Lloyd; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Lloyd. Eleanor is survived by her brother, Evan S. Lloyd, Pittsburg, KS; her nieces, Linda Tesar, Ottawa, KS, and Connie Womble, Pittsburg, KS; her nephew, John Lloyd, Spring Hill, KS: two great-nieces, three great-nephews, one great-great-niece, two great-great- nephews; several cousins, and many friends. The family greeted friends on Friday at 1:30 p.m. before proceeding to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Ottawa.
