Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa, KS. Mr. Oestreicher died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Miami County Medical Center, Paola, KS. James Grover Oestreicher was born January 31, 1913, at Princeton, KS, the son of Al and Agnes (Levelle) Oestreicher. He grew up in Princeton and graduated from Princeton High School. He later lived in Kansas City and Richland, WA, moving back to the Princeton-Richmond area in 1950. Ace was a machinist and longtime farmer. He worked at the Lake City Plant in Kansas City and was transferred by the government to the Atomic Energy Commission in Handford, WA, during World War II. After the war, he received a certificate from the Secretary of Defense for aiding in making the first atomic bomb. In 1950, he began farming on his farm outside of Richmond. He also worked at Delco Battery in Olathe, retiring in 1964. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and the old Lions Club of Richmond. In 1936, Ace was united in marriage with Catherine L. Haberkorn in Olathe, KS. She preceded him in death on December 8, 1949. In 1951, Ace was united in marriage with Margarette H. Dye in Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2002. Mr. Oestreicher was also preceded in death by his parents, Al and Agnes Oestreicher. James is survived by his son, Jim Oestreicher, Princeton, KS; his daughter, Sandra Austin, Belton, MO; his step-son, William White, Gardner, KS; his sisters, Ellen Hickman, Ottawa, KS, Barbara Issaeff, Crestkill, NJ, and Georgie Berry, Grandview, MO, ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. A Rosary was said Monday, August 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by family visitation at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church of Richmond. Roecker, 90, Ottawa, KS, were Monday, August 4, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, with Pastor Rick Dunn officiating. Interment was in Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul, KS. Mr. Roecker died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Ernest H. Roecker was born June 4, 1913, at Greeley, KS, the son of Jacob and Mary Theresa (Feuerborn) Roecker. He grew up in Greeley and attended school there. He lived in Ottawa for a year before moving to the Peoria Community in 1961. Ernest was a farmer. He was also employed by three different lumber yards in Ottawa-Hubbard, Nuzman, and Ottawa Lumber. For thirty-five years he was co-owner and operator of Peoria Upholstery Shop with his wife. He was a member of Ruhamah Baptist Church in Rantoul, KS: Arie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ottawa, for thirty-seven years; and was a fifty-year member of Polka Club of America. Ernest was united in marriage with Jessie Mersham. She preceded him in death. On January 10, 1960, Ernest was united in marriage with Alice A. Bauer in Rantoul. Mr. Roecker was also preceded in death by his daughter, Dixie Lee Spencer; his parents, Peter Jacob and Mary Theresa Roecker; and his sister, Esther Burroughs. Ernest is survived by his wife, Alice A. Roecker, Ottawa, KS; his sons, Wesley Roecker, Chanute, KS, Robert Roecker, Buena Vista, CO, Doyle Roecker, Edgerton, MO, Eldon Roecker, Baldwin City, KS, LeRoy Roecker, Louisburg, KS, and Douglas Roecker, Ottawa, KS; his brothers, Everett Roecker, Richmond, KS, and Alfred Roecker, Williamsburg, KS; and his sister, Eletta Martin, Ottawa, KS. The family met with friends on Sunday, August 3, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment is in Holy Angels Cemetery. Mrs. Welsh died Monday, August 4, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Dorothy Marie Welsh was born July 28, 1910, at Douglas, NE, the daughter of Russell and Eva (Trenary) Hardman. She lived in Douglas, NE, until she was seven or eight years old, then the family moved to Conway Springs, KS. They moved to Mont Ida about two years before her mother passed away on September 5, 1922. Her father passed away in 1952. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett. She loved to play bridge and pitch, and belonged to many clubs. She enjoyed her family and the holidays and birthdays. Dorothy enjoyed putting in a large garden every summer and canned all summer long. Dorothy and Raymond P. Welsh were married February 19, 1929, at Westphalia. She and Ray farmed together for fifty-nine years. They belonged to St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia, where she was active in the Altar Society before moving to Garnett in 1990. Mrs. Welsh was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, on March 3, 1990; her parents, Russell and Eva Hardman; her step-mother, Tracey Hardman; her brothers, Lawrence Hardman, Elmer ‘Todd’ Hardman, Johnie ‘Curt’ Hardman, and Charlie ‘Chart’ Hardman; her step-brothers, Raymond Broshears and Charlie Broshears; and her sister, Doris Hart. Dorothy is survived by her son, Charles Ray Welsh and his wife, Verna, Wichita, KS; her daughters, Shirley Hastert and her husband, Dale, and Bernice Decker and her husband, Larry, all of Garnett; her grandchildren, Krista Barry and her husband, Mark, Baldwin City, KS, Karen Hastert, Ottawa, KS, Duane Hastert and his wife, Diane, Garnett, Richard Stahl, Ottawa, KS, Russell Stahl, Garnett, Colleen Simon and her husband, Chuck, Wichita, KS, Julie Tilley and her husband, Brian, Birmingham, AL, and Craig Welsh, Augusta, KS; her great-grandchildren, Shana Barry, Kaylee Barry, Devon Barry, Meagan Hastert, Lauryn Hastert, Ethan Stahl, Jessica Stahl, Jacob Stahl, Rachael Simon, Andrea Simon, Abby Simon, Alex Tilley, Kyle Tilley, Jesse Welsh, and Ashley Welsh; her brother, Raymond Hardman, Mexico, MO; and her half-brother, Bill Hardman, Harrisonville, AR.
