Fields 1925-2003 Funeral services for Harry J. Fields, 78, Papillion, NE, are Saturday, September 6, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Farris Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment is in Garnett Cemetery. Mr. Fields died Saturday, August 31, at Midlands Community Hospital, Papillion, NE. Harry J. Fields was born August 27, 1925, at Garnett, the son of Harry and Frances (Stiffler) Fields. He grew up in Garnett, graduating from Garnett High School with the Class of 1943. He served in World War II and after returning from the war, Harry worked for the railroad for a while before attending Finley Engineering College in Kansas City where he taught for a few years after earning his degree. He moved to Omaha, NE in 1967 where he worked as an electrical engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers before retiring. Harry and Norma Jean Weiland were married September 3, 1946, at Garnett. Mr. Fields was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Frances Fields. Harry is survived by his wife, Norma Fields, Papillion, NE; his sons, Randy Fields, Papillion, NE, Larry Fields and his wife, Lylette, LaVista, NE, and Bill Fields, Omaha, NE; his daughters, Sherry Benjamin and her husband, Claron, Garnett, and Fran Turpin and her husband, Mike, Bates City, MO; his sister, Norma Lee Higginbottom and her husband, Sydney, Parker, KS; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Music will be provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Cheri Peine, vocalist. Musical selections include ‘Old Rugged Cross’ and ‘Going Home’. Casketbearers are Shawn Benjamin, Ed Cox, Andrew Turpin, Jarrad Turpin, Travis Fields, and Justin Hubbard. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lung Association, which may be left in care of the funeral home. Bloomer-Orr, 64, Rantoul, KS, were Thursday, September 4, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, KS, with Pastor Richard Dunn officiating. Interment was in Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul. Mrs. Orr died Tuesday, September 2, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. June H. Bloomer-Orr was born March 2, 1939, at Peoria, KS, the daughter of Carl Henry and Verdie Helen (Tucker) Bloomer. She was a lifelong resident of Rantoul and graduated from Rantoul High School with the Class of 1956. June was a public accountant employed by Ross Construction in Paola, KS, in the 1980’s and early 1990’s and by Dodson Aviation in Rantoul in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Since 2002 to the present, she was employed by Seymour Insurance Agency in Ottawa. June was a member of Ruhamah Baptist Church in Rantoul. She was a past member and president of American Baptist Women of Ruhamah Baptist Church, a longtime director of Rantoul Recreation, and served on the Rantoul High School reunion committee. She was a City of Rantoul Council member from September 1997 to February 2000. She was Rantoul mayor from February 2000 to May 2001, and had currently been serving on the Council since May 2001. In 1962, June was united in marriage with Gary L. Norris at Miami, OK. They were later divorced. On November 26, 1971, June was united in marriage with Kenneth Massengale, Sr. at Rantoul. They were later divorced. Mrs. Bloomer-Orr was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Henry and Verdie Helen Bloomer. June is survived by her sons, Kenneth Massengale, Ottawa, KS, and Keith Massengale, Rantoul, KS; her daughters, Karla Willcut, Rantoul, KS, and Charlotte Massengale, Ottawa, KS; her brother, Don C. Bloomer, Rantoul, KS; and her grandchildren, Darrell Willcut, Jason Willcut, Karrenna Willcut, Ashley Massengale, Aaron Massengale, Shelby Knight, Megan Moore, Kyle Nutt, Austin Massengale, and Blake Massengale. The family received friends on Wednesday, September 3, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Benus was born August 10, 1948, at Garnett, KS, the daughter of Ivan and Vera (Hermreck) Benus. She was a lifetime resident of Garnett and graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1966. She received her nurse’s training at Fort Scott Community College and worked at the state hospital in Osawatomie for twenty-three years as an LPN. Sherry was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Ms. Benus was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Vera Benus. Sherry is survived by her brothers, Ron Benus, Gladstone, MO, and Russell Benus, Ottawa, KS; her nephew, Jeff Benus and his wife, Deanna, and their children, Cingin and Shelby, Gladstone, MO; and her niece, Jennifer Runyon and her husband, Dennis, and their children, Kristin and Kyle, Overland Park, KS. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist. Casketbearers were Albert Hermann, Glen Hermreck, Johnie Hermreck, and Charlie Miller.
