Haegert 1934-2003 Funeral services for Daryl L. Haegert, 68, Garnett, were Saturday, September 20, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at First Untied Methodist Church, Garnett, with Rev. Gale E. Mack officiating. Interment was at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, at Sweet Home Cemetery, Lebanon, KS. Mr. Haegert died Wednesday, September 17, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, KS. Daryl L. Haegert was born November 7, 1934, at Esbon, KS, the son of A.O. and Ethel Noreen (Sloan) Haegert. He grew up in Lebanon, KS, graduating from Lebanon High School with the Class of 1952. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Kansas State University in 1956 and his Master’s degree in 1963, also from Kansas State University. Daryl received his Doctorate degree from the University of Kansas in 1971. He was a teacher, principal, and superintendent at various schools in Kansas from 1957 until he retired in 1992, at which time he moved to Garnett. Daryl and JoAnne Rundell were married September 3, 1955, at Manhattan, KS. Mr. Haegert was preceded in death by his parents, A.O. and Ethel Haegert. Daryl is survived by his wife, JoAnne, of the home; his sons, Dirk Haegert and his wife, Joy, Emporia, KS, and Darin Haegert, Torrance, CA; his daughter, Jo Haegert Green and her husband, Joseph, Roeland Park, KS; his brother Daniel Haegert, Esbon, KS; and his great-grandchildren, Janna, Jason, and Ayden. Music was provided by Rev. Dennis Matthew, pianist, and Rev. Gale E. Mack, saxophonist. Musical selections included ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘How Great Thou Art’. The family received friends following the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army and left in care of the funeral home. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 2: “Lee Earl Holderman 1918-2003 Funeral services for Lee Earl Holderman, 85, Parker, KS, were Saturday, September 20, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie, KS. Interment with military honors was in Parker Cemetery. Mr. Holderman died Wednesday, September 17, at Olathe Medical Center. Lee Earl Holderman was born April 15, 1918, on the family farm northwest of Centerville, KS, one of four children born to Earl and Winnie (Burris) Holderman. He grew up in the Centerville area and attended the Eureka Country School. While still a teenager, he and a group of his friends, called ‘The Finley Gang’, left for Iowa to find work. He worked at farming and then at a foundry in Davenport. Lee and Dorothy Maxine Richardson were united in marriage on August 3, 1940, at Mexico, MO. They became the parents of two daughters. Lee entered the United States Army in February 1942, and served until November 1945. He was a Sergeant and served with the 151st Field Artillery Battalion, mostly in Italy. After returning to Parker, he worked at a number of jobs, which included the oil fields and the Missouri Pacific Shops in the grain doors. He began farming, raising cattle and his Welch ponies. He enjoyed being in parades with his ponies and a wagon full of kids. He was a great Parker volunteer. He and Maxine were known as ‘Grandpa and Grandma Parker’. He served as a member of the city council for forty-nine years, ran the water plant for years, maintained the local cemeteries, and dug graves. Lee enjoyed carpentry work. He worked on many community projects and projects for his children and grandchildren. Mr. Holderman was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Winnie Holderman; his brother Wayne Holderman; and his sister, Madeline Scheuerman. Lee is survived by his wife, Maxine, of the home; his daughters, Carol and her husband, Richard Bratton, and Connie and her husband, Jim Snyder, both of Osawatomie, KS; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; his twin brother, Lester Francis ‘Pete’ Holderman, Garnett; and other relatives and friends. Casketbearers were his grandchildren, Dale Bratton, Danny Bratton, Debbie Bratton, Jason Young, Delaine Wiedenkeller, Nathan Young, Jimmy Snyder, and Jennifer Snyder. The family received friends on Friday, September 19, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Citizens of Parker. Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 3: “Terry Caudell 1963-2003 Funeral services for Terry Caudell, 39, Colony, KS, were Monday, September 22, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Colony, with Pastor Steve Bubna officiating.
