Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. Mrs. Infield died Sunday, September 28, after a lengthy illness. Betty Jean Infield was born May 31, 1931, at LaHarpe, KS, the daughter of Harry and Martha Wilson. Mrs. Infield was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and one niece. Betty is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ray Infield; her daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Ted Haff, and grandchildren, Mike and Rachel Haff, Overland Park, KS, and Brian Haff and his wife, Kathy, Shawnee, KS; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family received friends at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, September 30, at the funeral home. McGilley and Hoge Chapel, Overland Park, KS, was in charge of arrangements.” “Edward J. Meiwes 1953-2003 Mass of Christian Burial for Edward J. Meiwes, 49, Moran, KS, was Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Iola, KS, with Rev. Leon Kerschen officiating. Interment was in Moran Cemetery. Mr. Meiwes died Sunday, September 28, at Newman Hospital, Emporia, KS. Edward J. Meiwes was born November 9, 1953, at Okarche, OK, the son of George Joseph and Gertrude Elizabeth (Lagaly) Meiwes. He and his family moved to Hereford, TX, from Oklahoma in 1956. They moved to a farm north of Moran in 1967. He graduated from Marmaton Valley High School at Moran with the Class of 1972. Edward farmed with his father and brothers north of Moran. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola and the Knights of Columbus. Edward and Michelle E. Wilson were married July 14, 1989, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. They made their home on their farm north of Moran. Mr. Meiwes was preceded in death by his brother, Frank, in 1968. Edward is survived by his wife, Michelle, of the home; his sons, Matthew, Joseph, and Nicholas Meiwes, all of the home; his daughters, Kasey and Megan Meiwes, both of the home; his parents, George and Gertrude Meiwes, Moran, KS; his brothers, George Meiwes and his wife, Janet, Moran, KS, Gene Meiwes and his wife, Karen, Iola, KS, and Paul Meiwes and his wife, Becky, Iola, KS; his sisters, Margie Clements and her husband, Jim, Dumas, TX, Ann Weston and her husband, Don, Moran, KS, Karen Rickson and her husband, Steven, Tucson, AZ, and Janet Williams, Olpe, KS; eight nieces, 15 nephews, two great-nephews, and two great-nieces. The parish rosary was recited at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday before the mass. The family received friends on Tuesday, September 30, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for the Meiwes children.
