Gary Benjamin officiating. Mrs. Beckwith died Wednesday, October 1, at Richmond Care Center, Richmond, KS. Eula Aleen Beckwith was born June 25, 1920, at El Dorado Springs, MO, the daughter of Fred and Mabel (McCay) Dale. Eula graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1938. She was employed at Warner Sewing Factory in Garnett for many years. She lived in Lawrence from 1984 until 1996, and then lived the rest of her life in thae Garnett area. She was a former member of the Garnett VFW Auxiliary and the Garnett United Methodist church. Her hobbies included bowling, sewing, painting, crocheting, reading, watching television, and playing cards with her friends. Eula was an avid KU Jayhawk fan. Eula and Charles S. Beckwith were married August 10, 1940, at Olathe, KS. Mrs. Beckwith was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Beckwith; her sons, D. Stephen Beckwith and Fred Beckwith; her granddaughter, Stephanie Beckwith Van Gorp; her parents, Fred and Mabel Dale; her step-mother, Hattie Dale; and her brother, Kenneth Dale. Eula is survived by her son, Roger Beckwith, Lawrence, KS; her daughter-in-law, Connie Beckwith, Richmond, KS; her grandchildren, Jim Beckwith and his wife, Jerri, Alena Beckwith, Tyler Beckwith, and John Paul Beckwith; and her great-grandchildren, Drew Beckwith and J.D. Johnson. The family suggests memorials to the Eula Beckwith Memorial Fund, the beneficiary of which will be determined at a later date. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Lela E. Morris 1914-2003 Graveside services and interment for Lela E. Morris, 89, Hillsboro, OR, formerly of Garnett, were Friday, October 3, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS, with Rev. Elvin Dillard officiating. Mrs. Morris died Saturday, September 27, at Evergreen Nursing Home, Hillsboro, OR. Lela E. Morris was born March 9, 1914, at Delphos, KS, the daughter of Jacob Albert and Ida Francis (Burnette) Reichard. She grew up in Minneapolis, KS. She graduated from Minneapolis High School with the Class of 1932. Lela and Dale Acklin were married October 6, 1939, at Salina, KS. After her marriage, they moved to the family farm near Garnett, and to Oregon in the 1950’s. He preceded her in death in 1961. On September 17, 1965, she was united in marriage with Walter John Morris in Anchorage, AK. He preceded her in death in 1999. Lela was an employee of J.C. Penney’s for much of her working life. She was the head bookkeeper for J.C. Penney’s in Ottawa, KS, Garnett, Hillsboro, OR, and Anchorage, AK. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale Acklin and Walter John Morris; her parents, Jacob Albert and Ida Francis Reichard; her daughter, Beverly Jean Acklin-Gustaffon; her son, Larry Larue Acklin; and her brothers, Wayne Reichard and Guy Reichard. Eula is survived by her grandsons, David Acklin, Vancouver, WA, Michael Ratzlaff, and Kevin Ratzlaff, Fort Collins, CO; her great-grandchildren, Jonothan Ratzlaff and Sarah Ratzlaff; her nieces, Betty Sullivan, Elaine Gilliland, and Jean Higbie; and her nephews, Doyle Reichard, Albert Reichard, and Dale Reichard.
