Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Richmond Cemetery. Mrs. Garber died Friday, October 24, at Richmond Care Center, Richmond. Elizabeth (Betty) Garber was born July 30, 1920, at Genoa, NE, the daughter of Harry J. and Lydia (Dowler) Dannelly. She grew up in Williamsburg and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1939. She worked at Bruce Tent and Awning Company in Ottawa during World War II, Webster Laundry, and Oak Haven Nursing Home in Richmond. Betty and Paul A. Garber were married October 4, 1946, in Izard County, AR. They shared more than 40 years of marriage before his death in December 1986. Betty was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Community Church at Richmond, United Methodist Women, Busy Bee Club at Princeton, KS, and was a receptionist and lifetime member of the Weight Watchers in Ottawa. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting. Mrs. Garber was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Garber; her son, James Garber on January 27, 1999; her parents, Harry and Lydia Dannelly; her brother, Donald James Dannelly; her sister, Vera Figgins; and one grandson, Devin Moore. Betty is survived by her daughter, Wanda Whitmore, Denver, CO; her son, Leslie Garber and his wife, Shannon, Garnett; her daughter-in-law, Linda Garber, Richmond; her stepson, Paul E. Garber and his wife, Mary, Centropolis, KS; her stepsister, Della Hamilton and her husband, Ralph, Pomona, KS; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Carla Moody and Gary Stapp, vocalists. Musical selections included ‘What A Day It Will Be’, ‘How Great Thou Art’, and ‘The Old Rugged Cross’ as a congregational hymn. Casketbearers were Christopher Garber, Benjamin Garber, Patrick Garber, Kenneth Messick, Leroy Hamilton, and Darrell Garber. Honorary casketbearers were Charles Toumberlin, Charles King, Rex Piesker, Danny Williams, and Ralph Hamilton. The family received friends on Monday, October 27, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Refuge Ministries or the Franklin County Cancer Foundation.
