Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mr. Gordon died Tuesday, November 4, at Anderson County Hospital. Wayne Gordon was born December 27, 1918, in Coffey County, KS, the son of Perry LeRoy and Mary Isophine (Studebaker) Gordon. He lived in Coffey County until he was nine years old, moving then to Anderson County. He attended school at Central City. Wayne and Maxine Fuller were married January 29, 1942, at Garnett. After their marriage, he lived on the farm for 41 years before moving to his current residence in Garnett in 1984. He worked for the Anderson County Road Department for 32 years before retiring in 1984 and had been employed by the State Highway Department in Garnett for eight years prior to that. Wayne served in the United States Army during World War II. He had been a stockman all of his life. Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his son, Chester Wayne Gordon in 1970; his daughter, Linda Rae in 1983; his brother, Lynn Ervin Gordon and one infant brother; his half-brothers, Billy Gordon and Richard Gordon; and his half-sister, Barbara Hampton. Wayne is survived by his wife, Maxine, of the home; his granddaughter, Patti Westagard, Garnett; his great-granddaughter, Kim White, Garnett; his brother, Roy Allen ‘Pete’ Gordon, Garnett; his half-brothers, Robert Gordon, Kansas City, KS, and Jim Gordon, Hays, KS; and his half-sisters, Doris Shelton, Wellsville, KS, Esther Certain, Garnett, and Dorothy Thompson, Kechi, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
