Mr. Teter died November 30, 2003. Ralph Teter was born March 6, 1916, the son of Mary Griffith and Kenny Teter. A self-employed business owner, Ralph served as deacon at First Baptist Church in Garnett for many years, and enjoyed a good, long retirement. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. Mr. Teter was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Kenny Teter; three brothers, Clovis, Flick, and Walter Teter; two sisters, Olive Macklin and Leola Garcia; a great-grandchild, Allison Quinn; and other beloved family members. Ralph is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bertha Teter; his daughters, Rose Goodman and her husband, Ed, and Loree Quinn and her husband, Andy; six grandchildren, Renee Hopper, Eddie Brewer, Rachel Reynolds, Aaron Quinn, Kerry Goodman, and Mark Goodman; four great-grandchildren, Jaryd Goodman, Trevor Quinn, Christine Quinn, and Chloe Brewer; and many much-loved nephews, nieces, friends, and family. The family received friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service and Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.” “Raymond Peine 1923-2003 Funeral services for Raymond Peine, 80, Garnett, are Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. Holy Angels Church. The family will greet friends Tuesday, December 9, following a wake service at 7:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel. Mr. Peine died early Monday morning, December 8, at Golden Heights Living Center.” “William Albert (Al) Roberts 1917-2003 Funeral services for William Albert (Al) Roberts, 85, Independence, KS, are Sunday, December 14, 2003, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jim Blocker officiating. Interment is in Garnett Cemetery. Mr. Roberts died Saturday, December 6, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care. The family will greet friends on Saturday, December 13, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 2: “Cheska Callow Wheatley 1943-2003 Memorial services to honor the life of Cheska Callow Wheatley, 60, Whittier, CA, were Saturday, December 6, 2003, at 9:00 a.m. at Hillside Chapel, Rose Hills, Whiittier, CA. Mrs. Wheatley died of lung failure on Sunday, November 30. Cheska Callow Wheatley was born August 24, 1943, the daughter of George and Cleora (Case) Callow. She graduated from Northport High School in Long Island, NY, with the Class of 1961. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Art degree in Education, both from the University of California, Berkley. She was a credentialed educational psychologist from 1961 to 1967. She was a school psychologist and served an internship with Richmond Unified School District in 1967. She served in the East Whittier City School District from 1967 to 1979, and with the Whittier Area Cooperative Special Education from 1979 to 2000. She was a member of Pi Lambda Theta National Educational Honor Society, University of California Alumni Society, American Psychological Association, National Association of School Psychologists, and California Association of School Psychologists. Mrs. Wheatley was preceded in death by her parents, George and Cleora Callow; one brother, Garrett Callow; and one sister, Michele Callow. Cheska is survived by her daughter, Malinda Browning and her husband, Ryan; her son, Bryce Wheatley and his wife, Amy; her brother, George B. Callow II, Riverside, CA; five nephews and two nieces, George Callow III and his wife, Jennifer, and son Trevor, San Marcos, CA, Matthew Callow and his wife, Sunnie, and daughter Chloe, Minot AFB, ND, Adam Callow, Chicago, IL, James Callow, USMC, North Carolina, Maile Callow and Alana Callow, Riverside, CA, and Stephen Callow, Garnett. Cheska was a strong woman who brought happiness and humor to all she met. She was an advocate for breast cancer awareness and made it her goal to educate all on the symptoms and treatments for this disease. Cheska made many close friends through her cancer support groups and gave hundreds of people strength and encouragement in their fight. We will always remember her for her determination and strength. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society with funds directed to Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research.
