Graveside services and interment were Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Fooshee died early Sunday morning, December 28, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. Shirley Ann Fooshee was born October 1, 1933, at Fort Scott, KS, the daughter of Marshall and Leslie (Gray) Copeland. She was a graduate of Garnett High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Ottawa University, where she sang in the Concert Choir. Shirley and Dale L. Fooshee were married June 8, 1956, at Garnett. Her first priority was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Shirley also worked as a church secretary at Garnett United Methodist Church and as a secretary at Forever Friends Child Care Center at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. Shirley was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Garnett. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Topeka, where she participated in both the Wesley Weds Sunday School Class and the Sanctuary Choir. Mrs. Fooshee was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Copeland. Shirley is survived by her husband, Dale, of the home; her daughters, Janet Fouche-Schack and her husband, James, Lecompton, KS, Julie Fooshee and her companion, Pam Dooley, Pickerington, OH, Jill Babcock and her companion, Sherri Babcock, Pickerington, OH, and Kimberly Marbello and her husband, Rey, Whiteriver, AZ; her mother, Leslie Copeland, Garnett; her brothers, Richard Copeland and his wife, Mary Etta, DeSoto, KS, and Rodney Copeland and his wife, Glenna, Colchester, VT; and her grandchildren, Grace Ann Babcock, Shea Celeste Dooley, Quentin Lewis Marbello, and Ethan Rey Marbello. The family received friends on Monday, December 29, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a memorial fund to be used in support of choral music, in care of First United Methodist Church, 600 S.W. Topeka Boulevard, Topeka, KS 66603. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 3: “Doris Jean Hultz 1925-2003 Funeral services for Doris Jean Hultz, 78, Kincaid, KS, were Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Kincaid/Selma United Methodist Church, Kincaid, with Rev. Lee Bahney officiating. Interment was in Kincaid Cemetery. Mrs. Hultz died Friday, December 26, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, Wichita, KS. Doris Jean Hultz was born June 4, 1925, at Selma, KS, the daughter of James L. and Ruth Marie (Smethers) Hermann. She lived all of her life in the Kincaid and Selma area, and attended Selma Grade School and Kincaid High School. Doris Jean and Dean Hultz were married November 14, 1942, at Austin, TX. Three daughters were born to this union. The couple made their home in the Kincaid area, where Doris Jean was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. Doris Jean had many loves, but her first love was her family, followed by quilting, having made over 80 quilts since 1982. She was a member of Kincaid/Selma United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, where she was a past officer, T.O.P.S., and the VFW Auxiliary, all of Kincaid; and Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild of Garnett, in addition to faithfully working at the Kincaid and Garnett fairs. Mrs. Hultz was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Herrmann; her brother, Chester Herrmann; and her sister, Dorothy Cooper. Doris is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dean, of the home; her daughters, Bonnie McAdam and her husband, Tom, Moran, KS, Joyce Younkin and her husband, Robert, Wichita, KS, and Linda McAdam and her husband, Andy, Kincaid, KS: her grandchildren, Susanna Thyer and her husband, Jeff, Andrea Hermreck and her husband, Mike, Jeff McAdam and his wife, Emily, and Anissa Younkin; her step-grandchildren, Brian McAdam, Fred McAdam and his wife, Peggy, Stephanie McAdam, and Marcy Gray and her husband, Mark; her great-grandchildren, Caleb, Casey, and C.J. Thyer, and Andrew McAdam; her brothers, Lawrence Herrmann, Kincaid, KS, Herbert Herrmann, San Diego, CA, and Wayne Herrmann, Merriam, KS: and her sister, Juanita Fortunato, Santa Rosa, CA. Music was provided by Regina Broyles, pianist, and Lloyd Houk, soloist. Musical selections included ‘The Old Rugged Cross’, ‘What A Friend We Have In Jesus’, and ‘I’ll Fly Away’. Casketbearers were Randal Beckmon, Ed Carstedt, Richard Church, Gary Rogers, Rick Thompson, and Gerald Welsh. The family greeted friends on Monday, December 29, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kincaid/Selma United Methodist Church.
